I love the books too (well, the first one with a gigantic love, and maybe the second to fourth with a kind of affection), but the movie was its own thing, and it worked for me. I never got the hate for it, and didn’t even find it a particularly unfaithful adaptation.

Starred for (a) your gumption in the face of adversity (or at least mild disagreement), (b) your use of “neener neener”, and (c) the fact that I won’t have to heat my apartment for months thanks to your scorching hot take.

My grandmother used to practically bathe in something called Tabu. The name used to crack me up, the smell not so much.

I agree, but obviously others’ mileage may vary. I also find that given my crazily busy life, standing in the kitchen and just chopping vegetables can be pretty meditative, so I feel that I’m actually gaining a little time not racing around.
