As someone who has given his kid a dumbphone, you can still find the old black Nokias around, or you can get some cheap-ass phones made in China. If it’s just for calling to check in, it’s more than enough.

I can also text without looking on the old machines, which is handy when you want to answer a text while in a meeting.

I am so here for this. I love my dumphone, even though it has sucky audio and is pretty lazy about sending and receiving text messages.
