A dream… to dare to dream big.
A dream… to dare to dream big.
Knockin'-boots — remaking Debbie Does Dallas and such.
Oh joy! Oh Rapture! My first chance to use this… okay, don't screw it up, don't screw it up… ahem
Are you maybe thinking of Ed Debevic's?
I can't say I'm looking forward to all restaurants being Taco Bell…
It's a strange thing to me, the whole "performative aspect" you mention. There are times I fit in decently with society and others when I feel utterly alien. I see others here basically rending their garments, and… I don't know. Maybe they just care more than I do? I have a general sympathy for people who hurt, I…
I've been thinking about it.
I (deeply) understand the frustration of trying to reason with people who aren't reasonable. But when we decide to abandon the project of persuasion, there's really only one other fundamental course of action: compulsion. Civility and open discourse are our best shot to prevent differences of opinion from escalating…
Perhaps. But money makes the world go around—
The world go around—
The world go around—
Well, it's a hard thing. The idea of putting Muslims in camps is atrocious, contrary to the best ideals of America, and frankly evil. But civility and an "open exchange of ideas" might still be the way to handle the fact that we have people calling for stupid, awful shit like that — because it beats the alternative by…
Doesn't Ever Levant The Airport?
The school books say it can't be here again…

Are you sure he doesn't deserve an Oscar?
I finally read Foundation this year. So far, I really don't understand the fascination with Isaac Asimov — which makes me sad, because I would far have preferred to have discovered a new passion. I've only read his "Nightfall" before this (short story version) which didn't work for me either, so I'm sure I'll give him…
You found the 120 Days of Sodom… sexy?
It's like anything. Some libertarians are wonderful, some are assholes. Some Objectivists are wonderful, some (maybe even most) are assholes. It's people.
This isn't the manner of 2016 — I am out of step with the world in a billion ways — but I prefer to look at the common ground first, rather than the things that divide us. I think it more important, too.
I understand that this is still not a popular idea, generally speaking, and I don't expect any kind of agreement, but… this is one of the reasons why Objectivists, and others who take a libertarian approach, think it important to strictly limit governmental power.
Bye Bye Birdie doesn't excite me at all. Though I know these will never happen, I'd rather see Jesus Christ Superstar or Assassins… or hell, even You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown!
