I agree largely here. A couple points to add/opinionate (I declare ye a word!) on.

Personally I think the only claim regarding releasing this being a positive thing is that it forces the issue, with as heavy a hand as is possible, that the data HAS to be protected in a way that prevents "teenage sociopaths" from getting at it... If they can do it what is stopping organized crime or people who are

I agree totally that their targets are poorly chosen, but I think their goal is less the rebel cause and more general security. To that end they EXPLICITLY attack the low hanging fruit. I don't think they've claimed to be super hackers, I think they're explicitly pointing out where the security is laughable (hence

I agree fundamentally that releasing the census data does no good for the common man I understand their point. Fundamentally they are proving that the government is taking virtually no care whatsoever with all your personal data... This is kind of well known, but until a MASSIVE breach like this occurs nothing gets

The iPad 2 came out too recently, they're not going to push an iPad 3 in the same year, that's just poor marketing. Especially when they still have trouble meeting demand on the iPad 2...

it does integrated text messaging (it replaces the text messaging app, and is in fact an expansion of said), however it is not cross platform. if they would integrate AIM and face time into it and finally update iChat on the desktop to mesh in the same way then I'd be beyond happy and wouldn't have to juggle clients

it depends on if you're prioritizing the lens position or the button position...

Calling it a basic human right is an over simplification by the author. I would assume however that blocking all access is a violation of a persons rights "disproportionate" to the crime they may have committed because modern first world life is becoming so highly dependent on the internet that in the very near future

Hit the nail on the head here.

Big fan of the bathing suit one, very subtle.

if he had to have it "his" way wouldn't that make him an android fan so he could customize more easily? Unless he was a jailbreaker... but would he really go THAT far?

Macs will boot off anything you like, they can even boot off USB if you like. Internal, external, optical, flash, SSD, etc. anything that doesn't require a special driver to be mountable will work for an OS X boot volume.

Not saying it's not possible to make more money off android than iPhone, but here's a thought.

I honestly wonder who LIKES the ribbons... it's like the paperclip, I'm sure it sounded good on paper in a planning meeting, but in the real world EVERYONE hates them and not everyone is technically savvy enough to turn it off so they're left fuming... The defaults need to target the masses and the masses don't like

Fanboys for everything buy new stuff all the time, that's part of the definition is it not? That said my first gen iPhone still works perfectly without a scratch on it... my 12 year old Powerbook has screen yellowing and one of the command keys doesn't work but besides that it's still going strong... Hate on Apple,

Perhaps drop box just beat them to it with a better offering (don't know the timelines, just speculation).

This a thousand times. Every time I hand someone my Galaxy S the first thing they do is put it to sleep and look confused. When I then show them where NOT to touch and open it again, within a minute they're in the camera app due to accidentally holding the shutter button... I've got so many pictures of people's sweaty

I think the fundamental problem is that good enough isn't good enough... Yes, it's serviceable and has nice features. And yes the next update will add some nice things that should bring it up to standards all the competitors have, but the competitors are going to me moving forwards in that same time... If they don't

I go to the movies maybe 4 times a year now and the studios and the theaters are equally to blame:

The first bullet point seems far fetched but giving it some thought it actually makes sense.
