@paravorheim: Internet advertising dollars are not the same as cable, or broadcast dollars (they're a LOT smaller both in volume and in dollar/sec). So it's less profitable to be internet focused. And far more importantly, they are truly tied to the cable companies, if they don't keep them happy (by say, circumventing

@kitkatklub123: or apple could, or MS, or whoever else has oodles of extra cash to throw around... but who wants to get into that business when they can just partner for less like they're doing now?

Am I the only one that thought after walking out of the (3d version) of the movie in the theater "so... it was sci-fi dances with wolves... only not good?".

@rxe7en: hope you like digging holes in the dirt then, I'm getting me some magnifying glasses and holsters...

@bitchincamaro: because the light is focused on one point in 3 dimensional space, it's not a targeted beam like a laser.

@wardy89: well for one loaded down with hydraulics and an extra motor in the form of a generator to run them I wouldn't complain...

Yay Quantum Mechanics coming to a visible scale... now that we're on to doing silly things with science can I PLEASE get a god damned jet pack!

@walkejos: Not cost effective, the average user doesn't know their HD service doesn't give them all channels in HD... through RCA jacks.... why give people something good when they don't even know what they're paying for?

@drevik: This was the initial purpose of cable, and they gave it a miss in favor of profits (people pay anyway so why not?). But now their revenue is tied to both subscribers and advertising and neither seems sustainable the further along streaming services get... They're not going anywhere over night, and until

@Spartanical: a lot of apps don't support it. It's on the developers to implement and manage it as it greatly changes the way some memory is handled. Unless the app does something in the background all this does is speed up launch by a couple seconds in most apps so it's usually just ignored in favor of making a more

@mykalt45: 4.2.1 is a bug fix of the 4.2 GM. It 4.2 was fixed before released and version updated as well basically. 4.2.1 is the first public release of 4.2 (and by extension the first public release of 4.x for iPad)

@Greg Lloyd: supposedly significant speed and stability improvements. Don't have a 3g to confirm myself but reports in the dev forums were promising. Nothing really "new" though...

@dcdttu: iOS multitasking is not "true" multitasking (like on a desktop or somewhat like Android devices). As such "backgrounded" apps are actually put to sleep and suspended, allowing them to be removed from ram as needed unless they have a background task running. You'll only likely see a problem if you have a bunch

@Hami83: Further more to the fact that it's a TSA problem, not an airline problem. If it indeed were an airline problem how much government funding (read our tax dollars) do the airlines receive... a nice hefty chunk. That means we're invested and we should therefore have a say. But again, we're not even that far,

@noodle: my understanding is yes, and if the parents refuse the kids get a groping too... haven't seen it in person by I'm going to bradley international right after xmass and not looking forward to finding out for myself.

@talkingstove: Was that a failure? I thought it was a re-launching of the brand to a certain extent... and people still remember that tag line so it must have done some good. I don't think "We have some movies 28 days before the service you obviously prefer" is really going to be with us in 10 years...
