@Ian Logsdon: The current doubling does not use the double res graphics of a retina display targeted app. However those double resources are automatically used if the app is a hybrid iphone/ipad app, so updating the app to be ipad native is generally very simple from a resources perspective if it's been designed for

@bwilliams18: I own both, if you even have a shred of complaint about the 360 updates, even the dashboard, taking too long do yourself a favor and never dream of owning a PS3. I for one tend to play games on my 360 while the PS3 is updating... staring at a progress bar is not as fun as actually playing games for some

@Spartanical: satellite is only broadband downstream, fine for downloading big files but you can't play games on it since the latency is CRAZY, and typically it's tied with dialup for you upstream... Fine for updates, maybe even netflix but forget gaming.

@Spartanical: 10 minutes of progress bars is 10 fewer minutes you are playing games.

@ali: It may not always be 30 minutes but when I got my PS3 it took 3 hours before I could play my first game. Update OS, install game data, then update the game... literally 3 hours and I have very solid 8+ megabit cable.

@Dacker: I'm a regular gamer the PS3 is near the bottom of my console stack because of this, combined with poorer streaming video quality than my 360... but the DVD upscaling is SOOOO much better it's worth using the controller just to watch a movie... trade offs. The fact that you have to pay for auto updates is more

I for one find this pretty scary. If a computer program gets to weigh in on my chances at freedom, what happens if there was a typo... Humans are just as fallible as computers but humans can change their minds... also humans MAKE those fallible machines so there's 2 layers of possible screw up...

@Zinger314: sure you can! they're just guys IRL...

@Ignignokt: While you're spot on with the grade difference being pointless I feel it is because grades are inherently flawed measuring stick.

@Cyb3r_Punk: His ability to buy countries is a pretty big incentive...

@Rybones2112: It was ever funny/interesting? Always sounded like a cry for message board attention, like the "First" posts...

@trs: if you have a premium app that would benefit from people being able to try it you either make a lite version, or do in app purchasing for the full version features. The only way this would help is someone who's made a very expensive app, that somehow can't be distributed in a feature limited version to give

@JakeMG: Ω Man: fart apps make money because there are people stupid enough to buy them. Someone smart enough to take advantage of that (did you?) isn't the problem.

@Hearthatvoiceagain: Sorry to burst your fandroid bubble, but it's just an organizational option that's been recently implemented, app store has been happily hosting light versions since it launched.

@talkingstove: if it has enough replay value then it costs a lot more than a dollar generally speaking (depending on the type of game). If you expect a $1 game to keep you enthralled for days what are the demands you have for a $10 game? in my experience $10 games tend to be $10 because they're published by EA or

@Jaredu: higher quality/utility also means higher cost as it takes more to develop. Just bare in mind those 99 cent apps will shoot up to 3-5-? dollars for the developers to break even. And there will be fewer developers since it becomes harder to make it profitable in any meaningful way... which leads to less

@Odin: Sorry Odin, but the app store isn't as cut and dry as that. If it was top sellers would be great and bottom sellers would be garbage. The fart apps would have gone away a long time ago.

@Ccomfort: I'm not a huge google supporter, in fact besides search I dislike the vast majority of their products and services. However as a company I do applaud their efforts to not act like the usual "evil mega corporation".
