Meh. It was a good deal. But at the time Tesla was sitting on a nearly $500 million dollar US government backed loan. Gigafactory 1 cost an estimated $322 million - as of 2016 for about 5 million square feet of usable area.

Regular outlets are supposed to handle indefinite power at 80% of the breaker rating. Old houses though I wouldn’t trust the wiring since safety wasn’t very good all around. But getting a dedicated outlet with an industrial socket is pretty cheap.
