It was known as one of the fastest tracks back in the day, but that led to some pretty horrific collisions so at some point they outfitted all the horses running on that track with restrictor plates over their noses to limit their air intake and slow them down.

Horse racing in California has a lot of regulatory issues, as in, no one is minding the store. One of them might be elder abuse. My father was 91 when he died earlier this month; the day after he died, someone entered a horse in a race at Santa Anita with his name as the trainer. Stewards found out in time and

Big hit to Santa Anita. Hollendorfer’s horses were the glue that held that place together.

The fact that there is a product that exists on this planet called “Chillbo Schwaggins” is definitive proof that there is no God

My dad’s family had been going to this rinky-dink set of cabins in rural Wisconsin for generations. By the time I was a ‘tween in the 90s, they’d at least been retrofitted with electricity, but you still had to use an outhouse. The nearby lake was great, but my fond summertime memories of bonfires, tubing, and jumping

Using your platform and office to sow discord among groups whose interests do not align with yours in order to provoke conflict between them rather than aimed at you, while despicable, are not the actions of an idiot. And when it comes to Natives plenty of Democrats would do the same thing if they thought it would

The Explorer is trying to make up its shortcomings by emulating the soon to be discontinued Flex which has the same length/width, but offers substantially more usable interior space than the 2018 Explorer.  The Flex with the 3.5L Ecoboost AWD was a near perfect combination of utility and performance.  Unfortunately,

Pedantry time!

I like the “combat” better than Pokemon Go. But some of the “improvements” you listed are, I think, why it won’t ever be as popular. Nobody is going ot care about the narrative, it just gets in the way. The potion brewing, food and ingredient collecting, etc, all over-complicates things. Pokemon Go is so popular

Probably because of exactly what you said: It is the exact same game as one that people have already gotten tired of, just with a skin that doesn’t work as well and one that I would argue does not have the same widespread popularity as the game it is copying has.

Democratic establishment, 2016:

Speaking of the NYT:

I don’t vote with my vagina. It’s not a magnet that automatically connects with other vaginas in the voting booth.

It’s obnoxious that people keep pushing this “just because she’s a woman” narrative. It’s not like women are jumping up to support Sarah Palin or Candace Owens just because they’re women.

I actually really like Nick Martin. He’s a thoughtful writer and I know he cares about Native issues.

It’s stupid YouTube conservative pwn-culture talk. It’s just dumb. Jordan TOTALLY WRECKS SomePersonWhoWasJustTryingToGetCoffeeBeforeWorkAndWasn’tPreparedToHaveADebateAboutBlahBlahBlah’ ‘Brandon DESTROYS....’ ‘Carson MAULS with words....’

but to discount the fact that people might also be latching onto, say, Warren’s own policy agenda, and not just her gender or the fact that she’s a few years younger than Sanders, is...questionable.

So during WWII, when the US had the Japanese internment camps, is there anything about those camps that wouldn’t meet the definition of a concentration camp? Do we just call them “internment camps” now because people don’t want to admit the US had concentration camps?

I’m not particularly a “scholar” of WW II, but I did minor in history with a concentration in the European theater of that war—and I lived in Germany for five years (had the opportunity to visit Auschwitz, as well).

Based on that education and those experiences, I can only say the following:

Americans tend to conflate
