I get that, but the argument can be made that it was the patriarchy that elevated Caitlyn Jenner’s display of privilege into the dominating conversation on transgender identity in America.

Which sounds great until we are asked to apply the same considerations to trans individuals who are not comfortable coming out.

“She is not Black because she has not a drop of African blood and is the child of two white people.”

Using that logic I guess it follows that is the patriarchy that tells unhappy males that gender identity is is theirs for the taking.
