It’s weird hangovers would work for me as a deterrent for like 1 day during the hangover but very quickly that would go away. I also found that the worst hangovers made me super depressed since sometimes I couldn’t move. This would increase my shame from drinking and not really help me to stop drinking it actually…

I’ve lived in Spain for the past 2 years and let me tell you. This is not an isolated incident. Spanish people don blackface for any holiday that requires a costume. Samain, Entroido, whatever I see it all the time here. It’s one of the reasons I’m leaving after this year.
