It really depends on how quickly per-attempt the program gets, although if both were equal, a dictionary attack is usually much faster (assuming you're comparing a dictionary attack with a random sequence attack of the same character length)

The problem isn't the 8 attempts before CAPTCHA. The problem is there's a link that says "log in with a different account" that basically resets your tries back to 8 and removes the captcha, even if you're using the same account you just tried 8 times.
I had 2 unauthorized purchases of $100 worth of MS points a few months back - I wonder if this was the cause. I called MS immediately and got the transactions reversed, my password changed, and my CC's removed from the account, but I was very curious as to how/why it happened - this would probably explain it.
DEAR SWEET JEEBUS it's about bloody time. They should have killed these about 5 minutes after some exec suggested using them.
Interestingly enough, Apple gets all the credit for "Multi touch" when all they did really was popularize it. Their trackpads are just Synaptics trackpads like other laptops, they just have ones that fit the aesthetic of their computers, and tend to be larger.
I wonder if this would remove the restrictions imposed on things like public landmarks. For instance, if you want to depict the Statue of Liberty in your game, you have to cough over a pretty hefty licensing fee, even if it's just background art. This is the reason that there are lots of games set in "New York" but…
A-fracking-men! I *HATE* the new interface. I especially hate how when I bring up a series to check it out, it starts automatically playing. Maybe I didn't want to play it, maybe I just wanted to browse episodes. It's just terrible - a major step backwards. The old interface was better, can we have it back please?
Yeah, I actually played the original MGS when it was new (yeah, I'm old), and there wasn't any SNES iteration - there wasn't a Game Boy iteration, but there was a GBC one (which was quite awesome, actually!), and lack of SNES version didn't stop the creator of this game from putting in Blaster Master.
Am I the only one who thinks this game needs some Solid Snake?
The first one didn't excite me too much, but this one is just jam packed with content and looks much more appealing - I love how each character has their own powerups. Well done.
I'm sure Jackie knows what condoms are...
Yeah this is definitely a good solution in the meantime. Ditto for companions and players you're currently grouped with. The character I look at most is obviously my own, and frankly he is the one I give a crap about the most having high detail.
Why not enable the high res textures for Flashpoints at least? Honestly I'd rather they just let people turn them on and then if their PC can't handle it turn them off instead of completely taking away the option just so that people couldn't experience slowdown.
Wow, this is pretty sad if those were the only 5 games the Writers Guild could nominate. Far better games were written this year than all 5 of those, but because they might not have been registered these are all that get a shot at the award. Laaaaaaame.
I'm amazed that anyone thought this story was even remotely possible. The idea that ActiBlizz would launch a game as big as Diablo 3 with less than a month notice to the world is ridiculous.
I'm sure they made a fortune off of them - I bought more than one hint book for them in my day.
Wow yeah these are terrible. They mix fonts and shading methods within the title (that's one of the biggest box art crimes ever), plus the bad collage of box arts, and the giant silver slash on the PS3 one is, as mentioned, utterly horrible.
I think it's hilarious how married people are to the "old" Dante. I thought he was kinda cool at first, but playing DMC 1-4 totally changed my mind about him as a character, as he became a complete caricature with bad acting, horrible outfits (leather man bra, anyone?) and typical Japanese prettyboy type stuff. Only…
I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes this art. I think it looks good, and is somewhat fitting for the supposed tone of Dante's character (he's supposed to be smooth and good with the ladies, since he's so "cool") - and the whole firing a finger gun right where his crotch is at the girl is some bold sexuality -…
Personally I think it's a cool picture, and a pretty good tone. I mean, Dante is supposed to be a badass, right? It always struck me as pretty lame that this supposedly smooth talking womanizer type guy is completely asexual in the actual games so I think this picture is more in line with the character.
