So from what I've learned over the years as an adult and game designer it's this: killing the player was not necessarily the problem with Sierra games - allowing the player to reach a point where they are trapped and have to restart the game because they missed an earlier clue/item IS. If anything, the humorous

Hilariously enough the scene with the word "rache" is *supposed* to be the German word. In the original Sherlock Holmes story (A Study in Scarlet) it was scratched in the wall by the killer as he was taking revenge, and Holmes specifically told the police *not* to go looking for "Rachel".

I think this is pretty cool - I recently got a tattoo and I love it, so the chance to do the same for my avatar is welcome.

Agreed 100% - Vaan really hurt my enjoyment of the game, since he just looked stupid. It wasn't Tidus levels of bad, but I still really disliked his appearance.

Look, there's alternate gender expressions, and then there's Tidus. His outfit would look ridiculous on a man, woman, or anything in between.

I think there's a middle ground that's more tenable than what we get from a lot of JRPGs these days. I'm not saying the main character can't be pretty, or have funky hair, but let's see something like Crono - functional and cool rather than something like, well, Tidus - I mean, let's break them down, shall we?

Amen to that! I enjoy a good shmup, but this was the first time I *really* dug my teeth into a bullet hell game. I tried Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun, plus a few others, but they never really "stuck".

I think 1080p is likely a given for the next generation of consoles. I doubt we'll see a tremendous graphical leap like we did between the PS1/PS2/PS3 eras, what we're probably going to start seeing is more and higher res.

You know, I think the best part is you get to define what "sounds fair".

This is, without question, the GREATEST value in gaming currently on the market.

Well, technically yes - the steam code for HIB3 is separate from the Steam codes for HIB4 and HIB4 Bonus, so you could very easily just send the steam code to a friend - you couldn't "gift" the code through steam, but you could just email or pm them the code and they could punch it in, there's nothing specifically

And for less than the cost of lunch, you can own the other half!

I'd hardly call it an abomination - it's just MMX with redrawn sprites. What I would call it is a lazy port - especially given there's already an existing polygonal version of MMX (for the PSP) that they could have ported, upped the resolution and texture quality on, and had a much higher quality experience

Ok seriously - everyone shut the hell up about the Xbox vs PS controller debate.

It was a joke - I used to read game manuals before playing games since I've been playing games long before the in-game tutorial was common, and it just became a habit to take a crap and read the manual whenever I first acquired a new game.

Now what am I going to read when I'm taking a crap before sitting down for a marathon session with a new game?

The guy on the far left with the katana and the yellow jacket is named "Inugami" and is Japanese, and has a sword named "Kusanagi"

I think a lot of it has to do with the stigma against male gamers playing female characters. Gender plays a surprising amount in the decision process when selecting characters, for many gamers, some of whom are afraid to play across genders (when given a choice) for fear of being mocked for not being macho enough,

I think there are a lot of Asians out there who will be mighty offended at the notion of being lumped into the "white fellows" category.
