Don't give him the Ricky Gervais Show. That show succeeds almost 100% on the back of Karl Pilkington. Props to Gervais for recognizing how funny Karl is and knowing how to provoke him, but it should've been called the Karl Pilkington show.

They've also ruined Brian's character by constantly making him an insufferable pretentious douche instead of a well-intentioned intellectual who lets his baser instincts get the better of him (because he's a dog, you see).

I could never get past Darnielle's stilted delivery. He crams way too many syllables into every line, and it makes it sound like he's making up the lyrics on the fly even though the content of them shows he's clearly not.
