I still think Colbert's new show is *exactly* this, but Colbert does it better, and in addition is amazing at connecting with the basic humanity of both his guests and himself.
This is only about as funny as an average sketch on this show. What I'm saying is, give Late Show another chance, it's really really good.

I think he only did the movie because it offered him such an excellent part to play, so naturally he was energized. He always hated Han Solo, so maybe he saw it as a chance to make him a character he likes.

It still hasn't lived up to the promise of the Comic Con pilot. They've since taken it down, but the pilot was a tight 10 minute piece of comedy with solid jokes that showed it could take the "real-life adult" angle and still make it the Muppets. It was a really funny pilot.
To be fair, Prady did write the excellent Disney ride, Muppet*Vision 3D.
