Apparently they can’t rate by zip code there, but credit is a huge factor. And if people living in certain areas of cities typically have a lot lower credit score than the suburbs it could effectively be the same thing.

Yeah this would be very interesting to unpack further. It sounds like the comparison was done by basically removing comprehensive coverage from the quotes. That still leaves A LOT of variables not being controlled for. Type of vehicle, driving history, paying by month or upfront (I saved 10% paying the full premium up…

You could be right, I haven’t driven in that area before, though I have through socal before. But being from Texas, if you are driving out into west Texas depending on where you are you NEVER let yourself get below a half tank, from googling the area where this gas station is 100% same rule would apply.

Nowhere between SoCal and Vegas is much cheaper. All the stations on the 15 are within a buck of this price I’ll bet.

I was 100% going to say the same thing. That’s just poor planning if you end up needing to stop there. If you are heading in to that general area and DON’T stop to fill up, in say Barstow, you are just dumb.

Supply and demand, baby. Same price structure on cruise ships and movie theaters. And in defense of the gas station, a little pre-planning with fueling up before driving into the desert and traveling with plenty of water is simple common sense. 

OMG, do not try to introduce common sense observations to this crowd. That left our planet long ago.
