Honestly, you have to take season 5 as its own show. It’s not Angel, not even close. The tone was completely different. The characters are only vaguely reminiscent of who they were before.
Yes! Do remember when Aimee Mann performed at the Bronze? She left the stage shaking her head in disgust muttering “Man, I hate playing vampire towns”. I also listen to Cibu Matto “Sugar Water” and envision Buffy toying with Xander. The music had such a starring role.

Yes! I was glad for that, too. Bonus, Angel, while not really all that good for very long IMO, had the best theme music of any show ever.
