Great argument. Very persuasive and original.
This bit is made even better by the fact that Kristen Schaal’s “lackluster” looks were basically the entire joke of the second episode (and the “joke” about Carol’s unattractiveness continued on through following episodes as well) of The Last Man on Earth, even though it’s not like Will Forte is a stunner himself, ya…
But I loved that they made the hot dude fall for her. Tandy is the worst, but I am all about Will Forte.
I agreed with you wholeheartedly, until you said this:
Oh, please. We can talk about how damaging our looks-obsessed culture is for both men and women (it is!), but when you wander into a women’s site making careless equivalencies, that’s clueless at best.
There are not as many negative connotations to being a “fat dude” as there are to being a fat woman. At all. Not even close. That statement is simply false.
there are just as many negative connotations for being a fat dude
Well to be fair, no one deserves raisin balls.
THAT GUY WAS THE WORST. He doesn't deserve her raisin balls :(
I’m still upset that she ended up choosing Tandy.
Kind of a false and misleading oversimplification... White people first pushed PoC into the cities because they saw the suburbs as more desirable. Now they are trying to push PoC out of the cities because they changed their mind.
I believe people who say “thank god I wasn’t there” way more than I believe the rest. I’m pretty sure I’d be of zero help in 99% of emergencies.
Dear Ashton:
God, STFU, Ashton. He makes my skin crawl. So smug!
What is a person to do?
i feel like thats a bit of an oversimplification
In either case, it’s about white people not wanting to live by/with black people (with gentrification, whites don’t just come back, they kick out people of color).
“We’re not paying that much money to have black people live in the building.” If it’s white tenants only, it’s clean. I know it’s a little bit racist...
PSA: If you haven’t played around with the Parable of the Polygons to see how this all works in a very clear and visual way, you absolutely should.
