This video needs to come with a warning. That poor kid.

It's real. Look up "Where is Thumbkin?" He's doing the "Where is Tall Man?" verse.

I've been following this all day, and I feel like one of my reactions is weird. I'm all of a sudden super motivated to take up running again and train to run a marathon in a year. I don't think I can word that sentence differently to make it sound like a more appropriate reaction. I've been a very casual runner in the

They were near the explosions, but no injuries among them have been reported so far.

TRIGGER WARNING: Graphic, gorey imagery

Click on the links and videos and photos if you must, but be warned that they are graphic.

I don't know why there are not already trigger warnings on this articles.

Can anyone confirm if the Newtown families were near the blasts as reported on Deadspin? If so I want to crawl into bed and sleep forever.

Righty-o.

I didn't save mine, but I did have the midwife show it to me closely. It was HUGE and my midwife (who has worked in the developing world) told me all about how she'd seen some tiny placentas because the mothers weren't able to get proper nutrition. She also showed me my super strong bag of waters that didn't break.

This is why you need a $1600 Bugaboo Donkey so that you can put the placenta in the carrying compartment next to it.

I saved my placenta for a day because I really, really wanted to get my hands on it—it's not every day that an organ detaches and falls out for you to play with—but of course I had better things to do on the day my daughter was born. It was oodles of fun to poke and prod at it, and I was interested to learn that it

Obviously you just put the placenta in the basket underneath the stroller. Why do you think people are so concerned with the storage capacity under there? :)

So my midwife was actually very particular in her instructions regarding placenta disposal because of something that happened where she was trained in the UK. Someone had given birth at home and put the placenta in the garbage before trash day. A stray dog got into the garbage bin and, having dug out the placenta,

OMG, the cats. I'm concerned enough about how my fur babies will deal with any future spawn (dear kitty babies, please do not eat/scratch/smother them). I can't imagine trying to keep them away from an actual organ for 10 days. ::shudder::

Great post hwright, I just want to a add a little addendum. As a current student midwife and secretary of the Arizona Student Midwives association I don't know any LMs who allow a placenta to stay in as long as two hours. That is extremely dangerous for the reasons you already mentioned in your post. The midwife I

Hint re: lay vs. lie.

Hahahahaha! "TWINS! Ooooohh.. Oh no.."

Leaving a raw placenta out in the open could be an issue if you have animals. I can just imagine one of my cats gnawing on it or (even better) trying to pick it up and drag it off somewhere.

I guess the US is starting to rub off on Canada. I bet the rest of the world is saying Canada, this isn't like you, ever since you started hang out the United States, you've changed. Look what the US did to Mexico, you don't want to end up like that.
