There's a whole video about the two of them floating around youtube. He either rescued or raised the lion as a cub and when he came to visit him at the zoo a few years later the lion remembered him.

My parents got tickets got tickets to the Las Vegas show through a friend one year, my dad loved and my mom thought it was more of my "type" of show but she enjoyed it.
