There is nothing in the movie that states whether or not the Red Skull wants to exterminate Jews, but I’m guessing since he has no problem using slave labor and exterminating civilians that he also has no problem exterminating Jews. It’s just that the movie was PG-13.

The Cap movie still took place during World War II and the Hydra villains were still Nazis.

“We actually had a question in 9th grade history”

It’s a very clever place in history to use a character like Ares the God of War to be the one pulling the strings on all sides.

Err... Captain America movie/comic didn’t originate in WWII?

Let’s not delude ourselves. The only reason this is set during WWI is to differentiate from Captain America. If you really think there was a meticulous deliberation at WB/DC over reframing the origin setting in order to better nuance the character, I have a bridge to sell you.

WW1 was born out of colonial expansion and greed and intolerance.

I think there is also shade at the divorced and the single mothers.

Something something Muslim women drivers.

Best way I could put it was that new Star Wars gave me a ton of likeable to very likeable characters, whereas the prequels gave me characters and seemed to say “I DARE you to like them.”

I liked them. But they’re not good. Episode II, especially, is atrocious.

Ha ha ha, have you seen some of the Star Wars message boards lately? (Yes, I’m a masochist.) Some of the fanboys who absolutely hated The Force Awakens are now saying the prequels are original and oh-so-much better than TFA. It’s hilarious.

Who are these people? For the most part, I think people went out of habit and/or fan obligation. We kept thinking they would get better and they never did.

NOBODY LIKED YOUR PREQUELS, GEORGE. Has nobody told him this? Nobody? Is he in complete denial?

There are other people who say that since he’s using Asian-flavored martial arts, he should be an Asian actor.

Daredevil fought against them too during Waid’s run

Wait. So by that logic Idris Elba was in black face when he played Stringer Bell in The Wire?

Except Ben Kingsley didn’t do brownface because in Gandhi because Ben Kingsley (Or should I say, Krishna Bhanji?) actually is half-Indian on his father’s side. He is exactly as Indian as Barack Obama is black.

There’s a difference in taste between what happens when Mikey Rooney does yellowface in Breakfast at Tiffany’s and when Marlon Brando did it five years earlier in The Teahouse of the August Moon. Both are caricatures, but one is far more offensive than the other.
