I’ve been riding and lane sharing for 20+ years. In pre-Covid times when I was commuting 30 miles each way, my moto commute was 35 min of fun, compared to roughly double that if I were to drive. Lane sharing is awesome, and should be legal and encouraged everywhere. More people would ride motorcycles instead of

I’m a Californian motorcyclist, and I 100% agree with you. Motorcyclists with loud pipes, and motorcyclists who expect drivers to make room for them, revving their engines are fucking assholes. Lane sharing being legal is awesome, and I do worry that shitty behavior puts that at risk.

I have been riding motorcycles for 20+ years, and lane sharing all that time (illegally in NYC and Boston, and now legally in CA). Lane sharing is much safer than you seem to believe. Yes, there are motorcyclists who do this in a stupid way, going at too great a speed delta to traffic - but there are stupid drivers as

Super excited for this game. I really got into GT5, so I’m expecting to get my mind blown by the new version Any word on VR headset support?

Lotus built and tested an electric Elise in the late 1990's. They don’t see it as a fad.

As I mentioned in another response, “light for an EV” is actually very heavy in absolute terms. Can Lotus sell a bunch of these? Perhaps. But it can’t pretend it’s staying true to its tradition of actually light cars.

Yes, electric drivetrains are relatively simple, but at the cost of massive weight.

Light for an EV” is really freakin’ heavy in absolute terms, and compared to ICE cars. A Lotus Elise weight about 2,000 lbs. How close to that do you think an EV Lotus will come?

Eh. An EV Lotus seems completely antithetical to the Lotus philosophy of simplicity and light weight.  I wish Lotus didn’t give in to the EV fad.

For sure. And let’s see how smug EV drivers are if EVs ever gain broad adoption, and EV charging stations on longer trips have hour+ waits for an available charger.

Buying new cars (or any kind of vehicle) is a financially horrible decision. To be sure, I’m glad people do it, so I can then buy used cars and motorcycles from them. But I just don’t understand why anyone would ever buy a new car or motorcycle, when just a few years later you can get the same thing way, way cheaper

Yeah, the “zero deaths” thing is an absurd goal because it is neither achievable, nor desirable. If we really wanted zero deaths, we’d set all speed limits everywhere to 10 mph, but that’s of course neither feasible nor desirable. Setting “zero deaths” goals is stupid because it ignores the fundamental necessity to

That’s awesome. KTM is just absolutely hitting it out of the park, especially with their motorcycles (the most exciting lineup of any manufacturer, ever), and apparently now with cars as well.

Fuel economy regulations that make no sense. SUVs and trucks being exempted (i.e. subject to different rules), and fuel economy depending on the footprint of the car. Which incentivizes manufacturers to push shitty SUVs and make ever-larger cars.

EVs and batteries are NOT the only way to address climate change. In fact, EVs and batteries are a pretty crappy way to address climate change. But they’re certainly a great thing for car manufacturers’ profits.

You know what is causing death and long-term health issues? Getting infected with Covid. Seriously, do your body a favor - get vaccinated and reduce the risk of getting serious health problems from Covid.

1. Turbo engines. Turbos are a shitty compromise required by regulations. A larger, naturally-aspirated engine will always be superior in basically every way to a smaller turbo engine (except perhaps if you live at crazy high altitude in the mountains). We get so many turbo cars these days not because turbo engines

I had a similar story with an oil filter on my motorcycle. I usually do my own oil changes but I let the mechanic change the oil since the bike was in for a larger service. And then for the next oil change I struggled for a few hours to take the over-tightened filter off.

How do you suggest they address the lack of lateral resistance foil or other hull form on the ship? That’s going to be needed if you want to sail any off angle to the wind.

It’s generally called “apparent wind”. Google it. It’ll make a lot more sense why it won’t work.
