You’d like to convert a small light weight older car to a heavy, horribly handling EV? Why? Batteries are heavy, and the extra weight would completely ruin the feel of a lightweight vintage car.

Handles worse than almost any motorcycle you can get for the same price (“almost” because I’m excluding cruisers). Is slower than any motorcycle you can get for the same price. Looks are a matter of taste, and “respect” is BS, I agree with that.

Ah, trikes. The winning combination of all the disadvantages of motorcycles, plus all the disadvantages of cars! :)

“At best carbon neutral” is what we want. EVs don’t consume CO2 either. The phrasing in the article is indeed a little weird (or, well, technically incorrect), but the idea of carbon-neutral fuel is awesome.

Absolutely, we should be generating WAY more of our energy from nuclear power (and hopefully ultimately moving to nuclear fusion power).

Yeah, as someone who has been riding motorcycles for 20+ years, that’s a hard no from me. Short range and long “re-fueling” times are annoying, and the worst thing is the heavy weight. The lighter a motorcycle is, the more fun it is, and electric bikes are the opposite of that. Add to that the lack of a clutch and

Seems very similar to the “trunk” in the front of the Fiat 126p (the Polish “Maluch”). That also was very tiny, mostly occupied by the battery (and IIRC a spare tire as well). Barely enough room for a briefcase, so most people opted for a roof rack.

Love it. Using renewable energy to produce energy-dense fuel seems like a MUCH better idea than pushing for EV adoption. This can plug seamlessly into the existing distribution and gas station network, no need to build a massive new charging infrastructure. No long recharge times, no need for environmentally destructiv

I certainly hope you’re wrong. EVs are a dead end, which will become apparent when they gain enough adoption to result in massive lines at charging stations. Using renewable energy to capture CO2 and turn it into fuel with energy content as high as gasoline seems like a MUCH better idea. No need for environmentally

Right, but the energy to capture CO2 and convert it into fuel could come from renewable sources, making the whole thing carbon neutral. This is awesome, and SO much better than pushing for more EVs. And way more environmentally friendly as well, eliminating the environmental damage from mining metals for battery

This is not a simple logo, though. It’s too busy and fussy, too many details. So many lines and rectangles, it just looks silly.

The masses jumping to SUVs is just sad. Minivans are SO much better at pretty much everything that SUVs do. Maybe an inch or two less ground clearance, but SUVs don’t go off-road anyway. And they’re so much cooler - SUVs are for soccer moms.

So my impact on the planet is a lot less than the average Texans. Or the average New Yorkers.

For sure, doing whatever you can to minimize your environmental impact (and teaching your children to do the same thing) is great. At the same time, choosing not to have children (or have fewer of them) reduces one’s environmental impact even further. My point wasn’t to argue that you shouldn’t have children, but that

TBH, this seems entirely style over substance. Ohlins dampers are nice I guess, but other than that it’s just a styling exercise. Not my cup of tea, but to each their own.

Why is it so huge and heavy? The original Civic sedan weighed 2,147 lbs. This one weighs 3,126 lbs.

So you want optimism, but the first image is a cross-over, which is sort of a poster child for the current era of crappy cars? I think we can do better than that.

I think it’s actually the other way around. I don’t think anyone who is “anti-EV” is unaware of the environmental impact of oil production. But the pro-EV crowd DOES seem to ignore the environmental impact of battery production. EVs make a tiny difference to CO2 emissions, and trade one type of pollution for another

The problem with “check it” is not even just losing it (that’s rare). It’s adding 1-2 hours to my travel time every time, to first wait in line for half an hour to check the luggage, and then wait at the luggage carousel at my destination for an hour+ before it shows up. No, thanks.

Holy shit, these people grabbing their carry-on luggage. What’s the thought process - “I might burn to death, but at least I’ll have clean underwear”? I would expect some more sane passengers to smack some sense into those idiots.
