There certainly were people who helped the Nazis, but that wasn’t a majority, most simply did nothing. Nazi occupation was far more brutal in Eastern Europe than say France. 5-6 million Polish were killed in WW2, compare that to the 500,000 French(half of those Polish were Christians)

I am Latvian which means I am eastern European as far as everyone else is concerned, although Latvians tend to believe that we are northern European, because we far enough north, plus we really want to shake our Soviet past.
