I can't speak to this new film adaptation, but no, the book "Z For Zachariah" and the "Quiet Earth" movie are not very similar, based on what I can recall from the 80s. I regard them both as classics from my childhood. I've puzzled over the bizarre ending of "Quiet Earth" for 25-ish years now.

Oh thank Glob, are you saying I've been hired by AMC to do PR for them? I really need a job so this is great news for me. I had no idea since they haven't bothered to mention it to me. Whew, what a relief.

Yeah I'm really curious to see how they're going to make lousy attempts to make Vancouver look like L.A. (or if they'll pretty much just give up and shoot everything totally generically).

I have to agree — this seemed like an overly obvious move to me. I was hoping that Esmail was faking us out and that he'd zag instead of zigging in the end, and surprise us by making Slater's character real and not a figment. Most folks here don't seem to be with us though — seems like they like the "twist," but I

No, NJ Transit doesn't look like that. They almost never film anything in NJ anymore since the tax incentives were taken away. NY State always doubles for NJ. That was probably filmed somewhere in outer eastern Queens or Yonkers or something, and they probably just figured nobody would notice the difference between

I bet it will eventually make its way to one of those three services, but typically it takes about one year* from the airdate of the season finale for each season of a show to get to either Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Hulu. And outside of a few well-publicized cases like Gotham (for which Netflix paid such an absurd

I've never even heard of CW Seed's Vixen. Is it on yet? Any good?

I was really surprised when they didn't add a sexy young male companion a la Jamie McCrimmon to make up for this. I guess Danny Pink was around in most episodes, but I thought they'd have somebody actually on the TARDIS for the viewers seeking male hotness. Instead they just had Matt Smith beg the viewers to stick

TRUTH.

Now I really want to read that article, just to see if there was any serious substance to it, which is not impossible since those were apparently the Annenberg days of TV Guide.

Wait, are you saying Family Guy has explicitly insulted Bob's Burgers? That's sick. I hope Bob's Burgers has its revenge in some way someday. Although R&M seems more like the kind of show where we'd see some kind of Peter and/or Seth MacFarlane stand-in get eaten by diseased alien mutants and/or melted down into goo

I'm skeptical. Even to the dopes who run Fox, it should be obvious that a second season without either Carla Gugino or Melissa Leo is not much of a proposition. And both of them look to be heavily booked for a while yet.

OF COURSE it's designed to be renewed. See, that's the scam. If it does badly, it was a "limited series" all along! If it does well, it'll continue no matter what. (Not counting unusual situations like Wayward Pines, where the actors who play the most interesting characters seem to be too busy for a second season, and

I can't believe I watched that whole thing. It was… uh… mostly pretty bad, but I enjoyed it more than the 2005 version! Which is sort of like saying I enjoy eating slime more than mud, but….

I don't know, they didn't really use any particularly distinctive-looking parts of Berlin, did they? And I can't remember much good Seoul or Mexico City scenery either. But maybe it's not quite as expensive as we would imagine, if JMS still uses some old budgetary tricks he learned on Babylon 5. IIRC, he claimed he

Oh great, now the Shadows are trying to get into Congress. Well, still better than the Tea Party.

Just because the jerks who controlled American commercial radio at that time wouldn't let any other Big Country songs onto our radio stations doesn't mean we think they don't have any other good songs. It's those fucking playlist consultants ruining everything! Those taint-weasels! Sadly the band WAS a one-hit wonder

I wonder if Netflix was negotiating with the producers over costs or something. Seems like it was probably an expensive show. Filming in nine different locations around the world and flying various members of your cast to all those locations so they can all appear in each other's visions can't be cheap, even if many

They recently announced that season 8 will be on Netflix USA on August 8.
