The Thursday ratings are basically flat.

NYC seems all boundary to me, but then I'm a guy. Women might have a different experience.

While watching the great Person of Interest on CBS on Tuesday night (a really underrated show, too bad it's not on any streaming services so that new viewers can catch up), there was a baffling promo for this episode of Survivor where the words BIGGEST … BLINDSIDE … EVER!!! (or some such) flashed on the screen. I had

Yeah, they should've said "your move, Curve" instead. Well, except that Curve already got back together and then broke up again, so never mind. :(

Even though I was just a kid, I could recognize a specific (somewhat stiff) writing style in all of the CYOAs that had Montgomery's name on the cover, so I never suspected that it was a house name. I preferred Packard's entries — his writing was a little smoother and not so formal.

I loved Ha Jin's "A Free Life" so I'm curious to read this one and see if it's equally good.

My season rankings:

Nah, Farscape looked pretty great, even though it's about 10 years old now. (Check it out, it's on Netflix.)

This is about Cartoon Network only. Adult Swim counts as separate from Cartoon Network. At 10… errrr 9… errr 8, it goes through a freaky transformation like Jekyll and Hyde, or Bruce Banner and the Hulk, or something. And then back again at 6 a.m. They're not the same. Even though they occupy the exact same space.

I don't believe the same version of Cartoon Network is running in any such countries. It may call itself "Cartoon Network" but generally what you'll find in other countries is an entirely separate channel with that name but with different content (depending on worldwide rights issues), different schedules, often

Yeah, they should, but not enough tax incentives in New England to get them to film there. (Or at least that's the impression I get. I'm no expert.) Massachusetts and Connecticut have tried to draw TV and film sometimes but they don't have much luck as far as I know — for CT, I can only think of "Another Earth" —

Clearly I'm hanging out in the wrong places.

I have a friend who was invited to apply for this show. I think the main reason she didn't even fill out the application was because she'd have to go for a year with no TV or Facebook or Candy Crush.

Is it just me, or is Clara repeatedly asking out Danny a bit unrealistic or at least fairly uncommon? I see this a lot in TV shows but definitely not nearly so much in real life. Seems like a writerly fantasy sometimes, like it's geeky TV writers writing out their fantasy of beautiful women would ask them out. I'm

I am guessing he means that 12th + Clara is a much better fit than 11th + Clara just like 9th + Rose was much better than 10th (or as he puts it "David" i.e. David Tennant) + Rose, and just like Tegan was really meant for the 4th Doctor and seemed too mean and harsh to the 5th, at least in his first season, whereas

That episode did it wrong with its pathetic perfunctory villain. The villain was not only lame and poorly-thought-out but also didn't fit with the episode's themes. It desperately needed a more comedic, more "we admit these boxes were pointless" explanation and villain. Like, say, it was alien modern art that was

Somebody's been reading too much Charles Stross.

You probably don't need even 5% of that info… getting sucked into a Wiki-Who spiral is dangerous for sure! The show usually tries to keep it pretty easy to follow despite the massive amounts of continuity that have built up over the years. Keep in mind that this is supposed to be a mass-appeal show in the UK, aiming

Wow, a shout out to the Hoothi. That didn't spring to mind immediately for me, but it would be interesting….

I really hope this is true, but I don't think we can know for sure until we see some regular-length episodes, instead of this jumbo-sized special premiere. I hated the rushed pace in many of the recent seasons, especially season 7. Several episodes including "Cold War" seemed like they were playing at 1.25x or 1.5x
