For me, FiOS usually remembers that I have the guide in "favorites" mode. Occasionally it forgets and I have to select "favorites" again, but that doesn't happen very often. It seems to happen only when they send a software update to the DVR, or the power goes out.

That could just be a special button on your remote, rather than a "channel." It would be like the "turbo" control on that old Nintendo Advantage controller.

I'm right there with you on the original Matrix, @Scrawler2:disqus — after it was over, I walked out of the theater saying to my friend, "Eh, some of the action scenes were cool, but overall that was pretty dumb…."

"Anyway, as Hamm spoke about the indignity of the whole world constantly
discussing his body parts like he’s some piece of meat, presumably
Christina Hendricks stood behind him, playing the world’s largest violin
with Jon Hamm’s enormous penis."

Wow, really?  Thanks for the explanation, I was totally worried that FX was dicking around this show for no good reason. None of my speculation made any sense. I thought, are they avoiding competition from that sport that happens a lot in March where tall people bounce the orange ball and get really high scores? Nah,

I don't watch either of these shows, but it's SO CUTE that you seem to think that singers become successful in the manufactured, plastic world of top 40 music because of TALENT! It's all marketing and hired production guns. AI is just better at assembly-line plastic molding.

It has terrible areas, sure, but it also has some of the best Thai restaurants in the U.S.: Chao Thai, Sripraphai, and

@google-c51ced26d01cae671f4c47ace9b57abf:disqus Until recently my answer to this question was: Because HBO *IS* Time Warner, and Time Warner is also one of the biggest cable companies in the country (and has a terrible, terrible reputation, much like Comcrap). Thus, HBO is not really a separate organization of its

Sadly, you'll still be giving the money to Comcrap. Re-read the article. Comcrap will tack another $10-$15 onto your Internet bill for HBO GO. Unless of course you're lucky enough to have competition in your area from Fios or some such.

Over the past couple of nights, even with all this controversy, Leno's ratings have not been that great. He is basically tying with Kimmel (and sometimes Colbert), more or less, and Letterman comes close. The lousy bastard is slipping. Per TV By the Numbers: 'In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49

I disagree. I don't give a flying rat's butt who the showrunner is, but the show simply isn't as funny as it was before, as the reviewer has noted repeatedly. The showrunner could be Satan for all I care, or worse, even Veena Sud — but if it made me laugh, I'd be OK with it. But the jokes are mostly like-a-jokes

Aw crud, I liked Matt. Although it makes sense for Cochran and the favorites to pagong the stronger and more charismatic fans while they can, before a merge. Julia could be a decent goat but Matt was too likeable. I like Cochran's strategy but it makes for less interesting TV in this case.

@CountBulletsula:disqus As if we should trust a damn word out of Corinne's mouth. The editors might just have something against Julia.

The Gabon season seems like it was an awfully long time ago, and I've forgotten most of the players from it, but Corinne really stood out as an absolutely execrable human being. If she was playing the part of "villain" intentionally, then she was doing it so well that I recoiled every time she appeared on screen and

Yep, you've pointed out several reasons why "Throne for a Loss" is one of my favorite episodes. That last bit with Zhaan at the end has always stuck with me. Virginia Hey is fantastic.

Agreed. And oddly enough, they somehow make the endless thanking of a huge list of pledgers entertaining too. It almost becomes like sound poetry by Kenny G. (That's the WFMU Kenny G., the poet and audio prankster Kenneth Goldsmith, not the fake jazz bastard.)

"A Test of Time," "Playtime," and "Family Time" were also my favorites. And I was also a bit impatient and surprised that the show didn't give Kiera any growth away from her pro-corporate-totalitarianism worldview yet. Clearly the show intends to address that at some point, but beyond a few hints, they punted it to

My understanding is that AT returns next week with a new episode, "Simon & Marcy," which will presumably make many of us cry. Um, but not me! No way, man.

I listened to the insane WFMU fundraising marathon all weekend. And also volunteered as a phone slave. (Too bad most of the pledges come in over the web these days. I felt like a pretty useless phone slave most of the time.)

@avclub-bd639b876c6a37363c08ea18cbcfe0c4:disqus Epguides.com suggests there are 23 episodes this season, and the next is on April 4, then I presume the final four on the dates you mentioned. I'm not sure that site is always correct though, but here's what they've got listed: http://epguides.com/Persono…
