You can't sell reality shows into syndicated reruns for big bucks, and that's how most of the money is made from producing scripted dramas. Serialized dramas don't do even half as well in syndication as stand-alones. (I think serialized dramas make up some of the slack on DVD sales, merchandising, etc. and tend to

Ratings slump? I don't see any ratings slump. The show is very consistent in adults 18-49, with pretty much the same number every week, around 3.0, give or take 0.1 or 0.2.

If you missed the first 10 minutes then you missed the funniest part of the episode, with Leon's first bit and the Nigerian scammer joke, etc.

Memory Alpha: "This episode is the first ever Star Trek show to be cut for violence. According to Ira Steven Behr, forty-five seconds of hand-to-hand combat was cut prior to the episode being screened. This displeased Behr a great deal; 'that really hurt the show. We built up to this battle and now it's just

Damn, other than "The Americans" (and maybe "Survivor" if you're still into that sort of thing), this lineup is pretty pathetic. I'm going to keep compulsively listening to the WFMU fundraising marathon instead. It's delightfully insane. NPR could learn a few goddamn things. Lamin Fofana, Evan "Funk" Davies, and Mary

I agree that this was never a great or even a consistently good show. But the way I remember it, the first two seasons were the best, not S3 and definitely not S4. It was a half-decent action-adventure show in the beginning. After S2 or S3, it got hokey. OK, hokier. And it slowly descended into more and more

Deer Hunter and Perfect Storm — two of the most overrated films ever made. The Deer Hunter is such an interminable, dull, bloated, ridiculous cheese-fest for overly patriotic little boys.

Go WFMU, go WFMU, GO GO GO GO! Does any other radio station do a funny, fun, entertaining pledge drive like this? On all other stations, from what I've heard, pledge drives are completely excruciating. Tom Scharpling has now raised more money than any other WFMU program ever, perhaps by an order of magnitude, but

Wow, you called it, more or less. You were only 0.1 off. It got a 1.4 in adults 18-49. Holy shmow.

Agreed, @Scrawler2:disqus and @avclub-b8b0e9685190772ecdb089f0b4a0369f:disqus — if these writers have decent judgment, they are rebooting the character of Chang completely, using the amnesia as an excuse. But I fear the seemingly inevitable reveal that he's faking it. Zzzzzzz. That would be even more tone-deaf than

Yeah, I hope you're right. This seems to be the default mode for Disqus at several other sites. I always figured the A.V. Club had requested/demanded something a little nicer from Disqus in place of this bullshit.

Not everything about shooting demons with guns is (the wildly overrated) Supernatural.

Sounds like the short-lived Fox series Brimstone. That show wasn't very good, though. Its best feature was John Glover as Satan. John Glover always makes a magnificent bastard.

That was sweet, but also kind of melancholy, with the implication that FP may end up burning up some innocent farmers' markets (or whatnot). And then Finn may decide he can't change her evil nature and may break up with her. Inevitable teenage angst!

Хорошо!

I've read that a surprising number of people watch at least some of the ads during DVR playback. They'll skip some and watch others that look interesting. But I'm not sure how accurate that is.

I'm a fan of several "cult" TV shows, but I don't understand all the griping about Nielsen and its "outdated" methods. So they don't count online views from Hulu, sales from iTunes, etc.? So what? Those are done on computers which have these things called COOKIES and other ways of measuring exactly the number of hits

@avclub-858b67085072a6f2403cf500871f4068:disqus In an alliance of six, do you really want to be in the obvious bottom two with the other four people clearly on top? Michael and Matt probably made a better decision, at least as far as we can tell from the editing, by going with Sherri's alliance where nobody is clearly

Wait, I just got into this show and this is the only AT-related fan chat-type area I've visited. Are you saying I should avoid other such parts of the Internet at all costs?

Maybe not just sadder, but I can imagine it might go horribly awry somehow. Evil Fionna and Evil Cake maybe? Or perhaps their existence would cause damage to the space-time continuum? Hmm, now I'm making myself sad.
