I really wanted to smack AMC upside the head for shrinking the screen like that. Apparently they were negotiating quietly with Verizon over carriage fees and then AMC launches this out of nowhere to pressure Verizon. I'm no huge fan of Verizon in general but I have NEVER heard of Verizon having a carriage fee dispute

But, if you're Malcolm and you want to keep Abi around, you need her to vote with you. So how do you keep her from blabbing your plans to everybody? She can't keep her big trap shut at tribal councils. Nah, she's not a good goat — she's too yappy. Good goats are predictable goats. They can be crazy, but they have to

Bonus to this strategy: It's much less of a pain in the ass to travel on T-Giving morning than on Gridlock Wednesday evening. Nobody is on the roads on Turkey Day itself.

Holy crap, that's ballsy of CBS.

How else are they going to do it? They can't air episodes too close to Xmas. Nobody watches live TV then. (Interesting cultural contrast: In the UK, many popular shows air new Xmas specials ON CHRISTMAS DAY. And people in the UK actually watch them. What's up with that?)

People watch a LOT of TV in the winter, so that's not it. The problem is that viewership plummets around Christmas, with all the shopping, traveling to get to folks' houses, holiday parties, etc. etc. So, winter, *except* for Xmas. This presents a problem for a show that airs on Sundays because there's also the Golden

Have patience with Fringe, it gets better as it goes along. I remember not liking the pilot and giving up on it, partly because I thought it seemed like a bunch of dead-end X-Files-style mythology bullshit. I was wrong, it actually goes somewhere (despite some orphaned bits of plot in S1).

@avclub-3e9e0f1010418374c3dd9ccf3b0ed27c:disqus Actually, I come from a very small, quiet family, and yet I love this show. It's 40% funnier than EVERYTHING. So there's your theory shot to hell!

You didn't miss anything. One of the most overrated movies ever made. Bloated, hammy, and totally overcooked, the movie equivalent of a bad Thanksgiving meal that weighs down your stomach like a big rock without being satisfying. And SO pretentious.
