For somebody who’s so good at analysis, you sure are going out of your way from seeing my obvious counterpoint: I was making light of somebody throwing a boring discussion at the top of the tree structure we’re now rooted in.

When the hell did someone’s real opinion become “trolling?” Since you decided, important point guy?

...or it’s only interesting for people who like to pretend they’re smarter than they are by talking about engineering minutiae that everybody could just look up on the internet.

Based on that video that engine either has one exhaust note or they managed to engineer that thing into an uncanny boring valley between the brutal throb of an American V8 and the banshee symphony of an Italian V8. To me that engine just sounds like noise instead of music.

I know I’ve only cared about them since I heard Ferrari engines when I was a kid and wondered why the hell they sounded so different than American V8s.

You just started the boringest discussion in Jalopnik history.

Oh I’m all for solving that problem...By giving me all the money and letting me buy them.

You’re one of those doesn’t-get-jokes but knows easily-knowable-things guys.

I absolutely hate it when people who aren’t busy solving the world’s problems shit all over people who are actually doing things, but in this case, clearly it wasn’t going to work as well as they said.

Wait, you have a WRX with 300,000 miles? What work have you done on it?

My sister had one of those with an automatic trans. Might have been the slowest car I’ve ever driven, and I’ve owned quite a few 114hp Volvos. It definitely was slower than it was on paper.

I did get a surfboard in the Miata once, top up. That was just nuts.

I wasn’t asking about the car’s ability. You can tow with pretty much anything. I’ve towed a Jaguar up a driveway with a 250cc motorcycle before. I was talking about physically, is it even possible to get a hitch on the new Miata. Some cars you just can’t do it. There just isn’t enough space.

Yeah there’s a reason I swapped an M30 into my M20-equipped E34. That M20 engine is a great sounding engine, but it’s just not at home in a 3,400lb car. It’s great in an E30 though. Feels like a totally different engine.

Damnit now I want a Miata again, and I have things to haul around. I wonder if you can bolt a hitch up to it.

Jesus what is the deal with all those cars flipping over? It happened so often it seemed like a spoof of real car crashes. Like half of those cars flipped, which really doesn’t seem possible today.

I hate that I’m saying this, but: Damn it does sound better than the G35 did.

Yeah or the driver, who has the balls to keep driving when the boards flex like 2 feet downward from just the front wheels being on there.

I feel so bad for E36s. Sure, every car with good bones eventually gets to that part in the depreciation curve where some of them start falling into the hands of beater hoons and dirty-ridin’ gangstas, but good lord, with E36s it started 10 years earlier than most, and damn near all of them ended up like that.

C’mon man, I drive European cars. I’m not a GM fanboy; I just don’t shit all over projects. Nevermind that your point on the engine was irrelevant (as pointed out by you, and the obvious), but the series II’s one problem doesn’t matter anyway. This kind of vehicle gets bought by a car guy who works on things, not some
