I’m not surprised this skit took off. When TV and movies find a concept that works,m they generally beat it to death. If we could go 150 years into the future, we would probably find that the popular conception of Halloween is that it is a holiday that commemorates the life of David S. Pumpkins.

So Mikey Day mentions that originally Kate and Vanessa played each other’s roles, which makes me wonder: When the script went into production, was the second scare just supposed to be the waiter opening the platter to reveal the head of the woman from the first scare? And then the ladies had to switch parts, but

That wasn’t even the best sketch *from that episode* and with Tom Hanks in a major role. That would be the one where he plays a Trump supporter going on Black Jeopardy.

It could be worse. We could have gotten a feature length David S. Pumpkin movie.

“Why did you go all in on David Pumpkins?”

SS: Bobby was the one who was saying these lines, like, “Do you scare with pumpkins?” And David Pumpkins would be like, “Get a life!”

It’s constant. Rewatch a “Stefon,” “Wayne’s World,” or “Tommy Flanagan” (aka the Pathological Liar) sketch and you’ll see.

I certainly won’t watch it, but you know what? It has my permission to exist. Seriously...godspeed, David S. Pumpkins. I’ll absolutely get back to you if I have any questions.

I remember Janeane Garofalo saying years ago that Lorne likes it that way, as SNL was always supposed to exist in the variety-show old-time-broadcast tradition while subverting it. Or something. Specifically told her not to memorize lines.

Did the SNL cast always read their cue cards so obviously or is this a new thing? I could barely concentrate on the skit the first time I saw it because the actors’ eyes were so obviously reading prompts the whole time.

SS: Bobby was the one who was saying these lines, like, “Do you scare with pumpkins?” And David Pumpkins would be like, “Get a life!”

I did.

I very much wanted more information about how David S Pumpkins came about.

I think people here make far too much of the David S. Pumpkins/Kevin Roberts thing.

I can enjoy both of them.

And also Space Pants, the part of the trilogy of weird shouting that always gets left out.

I point out things that should have been proofread and corrected not out of a sense of superiority, but to make sure that the occasional bursts of feeling totally high while reading this site are in fact not the case

Your words to me earlier:

Same period / series, a model year later. See below.

Period. Correct. That was the point.

How about people who have right of way and still try to wave you in. That’s some next level annoying stuff right there.

Yeah I was expecting to see the dude try and rock a Raptor-sized jump, but that was pretty tame, to be honest. Probably a combination of bad luck (looks like he landed the drivers side-front first) and poor quality FCA part.

There’s something notably off about your stock price info. They had a split at the beginning of 2016. If you normalize for that, they’re actually well above where they were a year ago.
