    To tackle the front frame damage, He created his own, bolt-on front frame section out of heavy gauge sections of steel, that would, at least in theory, provide more protection from a head-on collision than the stock aluminum sections ever did.

    That lack of low-end torque is what turned me off the E60 M5 (also the SMG gearbox... oh how I hate it). My E60 535i “felt” faster around town.

    Or do what I did and go back a year to 2012 and get an S-Line Avant. The last of the “regular” avants in the US. I chucked on some RS wheels and it looks/handles great. The ZF 8spd is fun enough with the paddles and I still get 30mpg+ highway.

    These design and reliability issues are relatively minor. The drivetrain generally works great and their customer service/repair policies are top notch.
