Forget the power-to-weight argument. This car was designed to harken back to a Model A hot rod. It should have had a fire-breathing V8. Instead it got an anemic V6 out of a Dodge Intrepid. Even if the V8 “only” had 300hp, the sound would have backed up the looks.

Agreed. Not my first bike (a ‘96 Bandit 600), but I had a 2001 SV650S for a few years that was a great bike. The 1st gen models are carberated (and cheaper) if you want to deal with all that. Great V-twin (torque!) and easily upgradable with parts from the GSXR (shock & forks), which makes it handle so much better…

I know everybody gets a boner when they hear “500HP V10,” but the S85 isn’t really that great of a motor in a street car. No low-end torque makes you have to work it constantly (torque finally kicks in around 5500RPM). Plus, SMG is a pain to manage around town. Oh, you need to accelerate to get on the freeway? Better…
