Hey! I actually voted for her in this past election. A ray of light in a dark world.

Yeah. I can’t figure out how to embed a gif.

Seems like a good candidate for the Democrats. I know some people have bounced around the idea of Michelle Obama running, but I’m not convinced she’s held office as much as a presidential candidate should. At the same time, the President elect has literally never held office, like, ever, so wtf do I know. There’s also

“May I have your attention, please! Jesus was Black, Ronald Reagan was the Devil, and the Government’s been lyin’ about 9/11. Thank you.”

When I read the line saying that what Fisk the Fish wrote said more about them than other people, I took that to imply that other people don’t see someone with a disability as an object of scorn. In my experience, a good number of people do. I’m not trying to argue because I’m not trying to “win” or make you or anyone

Well, at least someone gets it.

I’m not trying to argue at all. I really don’t know how else to explain myself.

So, what does it say about that commenter, then? Because—and I could be misunderstanding you here—it sounds to me as though the point being made is that the commenter, seeing a person with a “deformity,” sees a “freak” while the rest of society sees . . . the content of a person’s character?

Yeah. If the left is going to recover from this loss, we need to start reaching out to poor white Americans and make clear what the left has to offer them. Because naked contempt isn’t going to win hearts and minds. And we need hearts and minds to win elections and advance policy.

Eh. Folks will try to dismiss your arguments out the gate. Sometimes, they have to take a while to reflect on new information.

This conversation is difficult because there’s so many comments on the thread. Some are intentionally cruel, some are “just joking,” and other are perhaps just naive. So, I’m personally struggling to maintain the actual vein of the conversation. That’s all to preface that there is an attitude that is broadly ableist

Same boat. I don’t feel like this thread is a safe space for me.

As someone born with eye problems and who has had multiple painful surgeries to make my eyes look “normal” and who grew up surrounded by people who would assume there’s something wrong with *me* because my eyes are weird . . . there’s a reason why, even when dealing with despicable people, it’s important to take the

There’s already an ABC Family movie about a doll that comes to life. It’s called Life-Size, and it’s amazing and the actress playing the doll is a woman of color and it was made in 2000 with Lindsey Lohan before all that unpleasantness. And I would rather watch that.

He’s only feigning concern in “certain” places like California to pander to the racism of his base supporters. Trump has a certain idea of exactly who *should* be allowed to vote.

What is happening on this thread? Why was it approved? What . . . what is being accomplished with this dialogue? This isn’t a time for pissing contests. The president-elect is buddying up with a known murderer, a mass murderer, and some random comment from a blog site is allowed to distract from that rather PRESSING

Lots of class apologists on this thread. Those who benefit most from the current class system are ethically implicated unless they take direct action to address its injustices. And I don’t see many millionaires taking action for progressive taxes or pushing for campaign finance reform. The people with the most power

A friend of Michael Jordan’s once told this story on a talk show. They were walking down the street and homeless man asked for some change. The friend goes to hand the guy some money, and Jordan stops him. Jordan says, “If he can ask for change, he can ask if you want fries with your order.” MJ is . . . not a great

Bill Gates is shady af and the Gates Foundation has promoted policies that have devastated public education is what has been at best a vanity project fueled by misguided self-righteousness.

So, I come here with no mantle of moral superiority. I clicked, therefore I am human. However, I have wonder . . . isn’t it kind of wretched and predatory to constantly rubber-neck someone’s ongoing mental health crisis? I know some of this information is being leaked to the press, possibly by parts of the Kimye Press
