I’ve fallen behind on this season because I just really couldn’t get into it. As much as I like watching Oh and Comer, the reviews of the finale (here and elsewhere) find me thinking that I’m probably out at this point...

I totally agree with all of this. I think it may be hard for the queens to really “hear” Ru’s advice (which is often vague and not useful) because she’s in the position of being their Judge, Jury, and Executioner as well. Her presence in the workroom is more stressful than anything.

The lip-sync wasn’t great, but I don’t think the choice of track is exactly innocent in that. “No Scrubs” is the lowest-energy saunter-along we’ve had on the show yet. The ethos of the show “let the best drag queen win” no longer applies. It was most visible on All-Stars, with grand juries and double crownings, and now it’s bleeding through (or the producers’ manipulation is just more obvious) into the normal show.

I almost thought we were going to have a double elimination with that lip sync. I felt for Nina because I don’t think that’s the sort of performing she does. That’s part of the game, of course, but like give the girl a showtune and I bet it would be rad.

Keannu Reeves was so right for that part. I’m trying to think of another actor who could play that character with the same level of blank slate he brought to it.
