Living in Colorado, I thought everybody was used to the idea of great beer coming in cans by now. But I see from the comments that most of the rest of the country has not caught up to our* awesome beer technology. "Good beer in cans? I-I-Inconceivable! I had a Bud Light once in high school, Q.E.D."

@victoriasauce: I was raised to be deeply and proudly Southern (I got better), but it wasn't until I moved to Philadelphia as a young lad that I was taught by the other kids at school that Hispanic people weren't white.

Apple, thanks so much for arbitrarily buying and shutting down lala.com. I was spending far too much time and money on it, so I'm glad to see you apparently aren't even using their i.p. for anything. I'd hate to have a reason to switch back to iTunes, as it's relatively bloated and too resource-heavy for my old PC.

@matt_mcmhn: I doubt he's making payments to Bugatti.

My answer is useless for this article's purposes: neither! I'll admit I've never used an iPad, but I just don't seem to need anything between a smartphone and a full-strength laptop. Maybe if I had some extra cash burning a hole in my pocket I'd feel differently, but I'm just not in the market for expensive toys

Absolutely one of my favorite anime movies. Gorgeous, weird, and touching.

@johnnyabnormal: That's a fine point, but on the other hand, go team Les! Woooo!

@Tycho Vhargon: Don't you have a "productainment" folder? Huh.

@Denver: I always figured 720 was older. I only know two or three CO natives, and out of all my friends and family who live here I don't know anybody who's ever had a 720 area code. Is it like... Commerce City or something?

Woah, PZ Myers is pissed. He's right, but he needs to work on his delivery.

@Mount_Prion: Well I didn't ask the producer, so I certainly could be wrong about how they did it, but even an old FFT algorithm could do 30% easily. Maybe you're thinking 300%?

@Mount_Prion: It's a technique called granular synthesis. A sound is broken down into tiny segments (grains) and rearranged. In this case, the individual grains were spaced out or repeated, or probably both, which produces a time-stretch effect without changing pitch.

I think he was saying "MVP! MV fucking P!"

Great interview.

@Dezerus Richardson: No way! Simpler, maybe, but splicing tape was a pain in the ass. I only ever did it for "fun," but believe me, these days you can download freeware that'll run on a thrift store computer that does more than they could even imagine in 1973— including chopping and splicing sound files about a

@chefgon: I started wearing a watch again recently after 6 or 7 years of relying on a cell phone (I'm 31), and I can't believe how much easier and more convenient it is. It just seems to be a matter of functional, focused design; there's really nothing better at doing what a watch does.
