As my desktop ages, I find myself tweaking priorities a lot— most often raising whatever's playing music to prevent skipping while I browse. Seems like some clever programmers at Microsoft could figure out how to manage these things automatically, but I'm sure that's more difficult than it sounds.

@AchromaticMagus Loves Wotter: I thought X-2 was fantastic. Not my favorite story out of the whole series, but probably to me the most fun to play. I thought I was the only one!

I was gonna say Final Fantasy X-2, but damn, Super Metroid is a contender. And Fallout 2 was amazing.

You assholes are making it hard for us expat Philly fans to show our colors in sports bars. Please quit being so goddamn redneck.

VOTE: Dreamhost

Shift + right click also gives a "Pin to Start Menu" option for folders, turns out. Fun!

@p|-|15|-|: I doubt anyone will be making giant robots any time soon. From an engineering perspective, a big walking robot is actually a lot easier to build than a human-sized armored exoskeleton, but without some sort of sci-fi-caliber shielding, a gundam would be nothing but a big, expensive target.

Honestly, if you have a pair of pliers, you can forget all the other tricks. You can drive a tico through a steel hanger or a teeny little pin through hardwood.

Do you think Phil Mickelson gets dill pickles on?

@luckycharms: Well it might just be the way my screen is set up, but I've got the quick launch toolbar— not the task bar itself— set to small icons with no text, and it looks exactly the same as always to me. The icons are the same size as the ones in the notification tray. My screencap there is actually blown up

@luckycharms: Unless I'm missing your meaning, if you re-enable quick launch using the above instructions, you can make it look however you want by unlocking the taskbar and dragging things around.

The current version of Winamp is actually pretty lightweight! It uses way less memory than iTunes or Songbird, and is the only player I've tried that I don't have to set to "above normal" priority to avoid skipping while surfing with Firefox.

I set my browsers to download everything to my desktop, instead of the downloads folder. I'm pretty anal about keeping my desktop uncluttered, so it's an effective way to make sure nothing gets ignored, forgotten, or left hanging around beyond its use.

Random drawing! I'm... not good at contests.

@Sobersean: aka Doctor Aquafresh: Here's my problem with 8: draw... draw... draw... draw... draw... draw... draw... draw... draw... draw... draw... draw... draw...

@jmckee: In theory, yes, but Spotify blocks public proxy servers about as soon as they pop up.

You've never been candid? Are slurpees supposed to be embarrassing or something?

At first I was so excited by this thing that I almost bought one, but after some thought I don't see this being as useful as a set of tool bags, even just for holding fasteners while you work.

I still haven't seen anything else as good or easy as Real's video download addon.
