Yeah realistically there is no perfect lap, but the best drivers are able to conserve momentum and grip. Jim Clark used to always be said to be lighter on the brakes and easier through the turns and looked slower but because it was so smooth it was faster.

The main point of F1 however is marketing exposure and the value gained from it, not for the team itself to be profitable. The amount of exposure and marketing Mercedes is getting from F1 and its rabid fanbase is much more than a tepid base of FE even if it costs a lot less upfront.

Thats not called return on investment, thats just called cost. I didn’t say Jag made more profit, just that it costs much less to enter which of course it does because its not anywhere near as fast or bleeding edge in terms of the engineering

So its bigger in totally unimportant metrics? The reason the manufacturers are there arent because they bring in the money, its because it costs much much less since its a spec series. From what I’ve seen I think Jag said it costs about 10-12 million a season to run in Formula E. That means the budget for them is 1/18…
