I love Indian food, but for me yogurt is a huge part of that, as well as cooking in ghee. I could live without the ghee, but not the yogurt. In fairness though, I have never tried the vegan alternatives. I just know, the cooling and the creaminess element is necessary, because I spice the f*** out of my food.

Every so often, my gf and I will make some Indian food (dals, etc) and then we’re surprised when we realize we’re eating vegan.

Fried cauliflower is my go to when I have to cook vegan food and need some bulk. With proper spices if does a good job of sitting in for meat. I especially like steak style.

I would think this is true; I have watched several documentaries that push a vegetarian or vegan way of eating and I am surprised by how many push food that pretends to be meat. On those occasions when I choose to go meat-free, I don’t buy fake meat products as a substitute, I eat things that aren’t meat.

If I’m invited to someone’e house for dinner and asked to bring my own food, I’m going to decline and then go set that house on fire because that is rude.

As much as I poke fun at vegans, there’s honestly a great deal of delicious food that can be made without any meat/dairy products. However, I find that the best vegan food is generally not food that pretends to be meat.

According to several vegans I know, the meal should just consist of Oreos because “omg being vegan is so easy did u no oreos are vegan!!!”

When all else fails, just add chicken. Joking.

also: mmmmmmm, mushrooms!

I’m not vegan either. I’m not even vegetarian. But I have vegetarian and vegan and other friends with various dietary restrictions, and there’s nothing sadder than to sit around a piece of fake meat and play let’s pretend. I’d rather we all just eat something delicious that highlights the flavors of some great summer

My ex-husband was (he still is) vegetarian the entire time we were married, which was a long time. Tacos could not have been simpler because the only difference between his tacos and the rest of us was the black beans instead of chicken. Since he is vegetarian, I didn’t even have to find a cheese substitute.

It’s really nice to see a positive article about veganism here, though I’m not all that big on fake meats. Maybe it’s because I’m a cheese-loving vegetarian. I’ve noticed that vegans seem to go for the fake meats a lot more, whereas most of the vegetarians I know just replace meat with delicious vegetables.

Couldn’t agree more. I love the tacos idea, but you don’t need fake meat when there’s black beans, fried cauliflower, sauteed mushrooms and plenty else to make delicious fillings out of.

I’m not vegan, but yeah, I agree all these options sound not great. Curry’s a good way to go, or pasta primavera, or a stir-fry. There’s plenty of vegan umami offerings out there for seasoning that aren’t imitation meats or cheeses. Best bet is mushrooms though, mushrooms are the best for so many reasons.

Making eggplant parm vegan is super easy and a great colder weather dinner for everyone.

. . . this sounds like an incredibly unappetizing vegan meal.
There’s lots and lots of great vegan food out there. The best vegan food is not fake meats assembled in sad repetition of foods that normally have meat, but rather looking to foods that just . . . don’t need animal products.
And folks, this is not so hard.

Oh god, I hate it when I agree with Wendy Williams.

Imagine having the money to rent out a theme park, that’s just so crazy to me. I mean, I’d go a little bigger and rent out Magic Kingdom, but different strokes.

I support this side of Kylie Jenner. Six Flags (especially our SoCal one) is the best.
