I had a moment last night when my gay black next door neighbor went off on a “They’re taking our jobs/ take care of Americans first” rant about illegal immigrants. I don’t think a lot of Americans realize how deep seated racism is, and how it can cross lines that we normally think of as inpenetrable. It’s scary.

To quote the speech from the movie The American President, this is Donald Trump and the GOP in a nutshell:

That’s the Trump campaign in a nutshell: it was funny until it suddenly wasn’t funny anymore.

This pretty much sums up the feelings I have.

I blame the internet. Now people don’t feel alone in their bitterness if they can look up other angry people who agree with them.

They did for the HB2 case. I haven’t been following this case either until today, but from what I know about SCOTUS’s history of issuing stays on these laws I’m just guessing they will.

But SCOTUS has already granted cert in the HB2 case. And I haven’t been following this case but it sounds like it’s still being litigated in the district court?

the noun-adjective distinction is the opiate of the masses.

This is a ridiculous attack on #BernieSanders! Where are the articles tearing apart Hillary’s grammar?! Typical #lamestream media. #feelthebern #bernie2016 #freecollege #hillaryisacrook #hillaryforprison2016 #abolishthecia #englishonly

Yep! I was about to say the same thing, being denied a preliminary injunction on the grounds that she wasn’t able to prove irreparable harm just means that money damages are sufficient to compensate her for any wrong doing that is eventually proven at trial. PIs are difficult to get, even more so when the party is

This this this. Posted about this in the comments of another article. There is been no trial, there has been no verdict. People need to stop using those words.

The Court is NOT on Dr. Luke’s “side.” The Judge merely applied the law to the facts. As an attorney one of the hardest things to deal with are bad facts. They are what they are and we do our best to construe them most favorably to our clients but ultimately Judges have no discretion to choose a “side” they like. It’s

No, I totally agree! I didn’t really mean I *agree* with them I guess (poor wording), but it was just kind of funny. Still poor, in terms of argument’s validity.

As another perpetual single this is something that I’m dying to know as well.

While the publishing of this story was incredibly short-sighted, I have been impressed with Lockland and SB Nation’s response to their error. They owned the mistake and are taking steps to correct it - unlike when Simmons and Grantland drove Dr. V to suicide, then dismissed their role in the event.

EXACTLY, thank you.

Agreed. That’s a point that the story should have made more clearly.

Agreed. There’s a difference between supporting Kesha (which of course I do — it’s crucial for us to stand visibly and vocally with victims) and condemning the judge for having to make a complex (and preliminary) legal decision centered around a contract dispute. I’m not seeing it reported almost anywhere that this

Damn, I wish this had a zillion stars and was in the black. Most news outlets seem to be getting the details of this ruling wrong; I’m terrified that this judge is going to be the subject of attack for doing her job appropriately. Kesha isn’t going to jail and she’s not being forced to work with her rapist in order to

I wish this comment wasn’t in the gray. This is a very, very important piece of information.
