Their comment was correct. How on Earth did it prove your point? By... disagreeing with you? That does seem to be most people’s definition of stupidity these days.

You’re absolutely correct on all counts (although I’m happy Hopper survived just because I love David Harbour). But Will and Mike had absolutely nothing to do this season, and honestly Mike has been going downhill since season 1. Will’s “you’re the heart” was comical to me mostly because Mike has essentially been…
The issue isn’t that they’ve added new characters — one of the Duffers’ greatest strengths is writing engaging characters (and casting really well).
It was never a singular vision. Lucas had PILES of collaborators and people to make his vision much better than it was.
CHARACTER??? OVER ALMIGHTY PLOT???
HOW DARE YOUUUUUU
I’ve noticed the past decade an unbearable over-emphasis on “plot” as the be-all end-all of what matters in storytelling. It’s not. Some stories are light on plot, heavy on character development. Or joke delivery systems.
Alec, you produced the film. You are inherently responsible for what happens on set, even if you aren’t actually “at fault”.
On one hand, I can appreciate that writers have to concentrate on other storylines if they don’t have a sex/romance storyline to write.
Exactly. The point was the heroes were trying to pull off a daring rescue and failed. That happens in movies all the damn time, otherwise most movies would be 40 minutes long.
I’m just surprised that people still completely don’t get the message of the film. It wasn’t “nothing matters”, it was “expectations don’t make you who you are and shouldn’t be expected to in the first place”.
(jerkoff motions)
Sure, but Alien is just a modern day retelling of As You Like It, so wouldn’t that make Rosalind the original Ripley?
They don’t need CGI, they’ve had practical effects that look completely natural for years now
The 90s were not a fun time to be mentally ill.
I love the people who complain about the bombing run in the beginning: “how can you drop bombs in space? I hate when there’s ill logic in my movie about space wizards with swords whose blades are lasers of a finite length!”
Wait, everyone hated Suyin at first? I enjoyed the character, and pound for pound she had the best fight/actions scenes in the series (I think she was in something like 5 to 7 fight/action scenes, and they were all great). And Anne Heche’s warm and wizened vocal performance really sold the hippie Renaissance woman…
The casino planet criticism is way overblown imo. Sure, it ultimately doesn't alter the plot, but it certainly matters thematically and for the characters. And does plot impact matter that much? You could argue that Han and Leia spending half of ESB evading the Empire only to end up being caught by the empire is…
Aubrey Plaza in short shorts with a english accent is making me feel things

He’s not wrong. The one time a mainline Star Wars entry tried to do anything different the “fans” attacked it so much Disney put out the most generic followup you could think of and hasn’t done anything risky since.
