Release the Bathole Cut!

Preferably a fruit wine from a local vintner who brings the muskmelon goodness to his oak Chardonnay and the dazzling peach crabapple to his Riesling Rioja.

NBC News would like to apologise to Kevin Hart (pictured below) for using the wrong photo.  It was a glitch, but we’ve totally fixed it, you guys.

Critics do criticize movies, it’s in the name. Many are required to watch awful movies, and since they don’t actually prefer slamming movies (only Mr. Cranky does, or did) they don’t put much effort into what they write about those. But Iggy writes well about both films that he likes and dislikes.

Seth Rogen was on Howard Stern recently and they got to talking about Schitt’s Creek. This is his take on Catherine O’Hara, and I just love it. He effectively said that he likes to think of himself as irreverent and pushing the boundaries of comedy, and then he watches her work in Schitt’s Creek and he says of

A fine fruit wine

I enjoyed this when I saw it pre-lockdown in the UK, but I’m a bit of a Dickens-sceptic so I wasn’t concerned about the changes.

Iggy is a great critic, particularly when it comes to his pans. Most of those are for films that few like, but how that dislike is put into words raises his reviews above others.

Also true for Austen. I really enjoyed the Keira Knightley movie of Pride and Prejudice for the superb performances (apart from Donald Sutherland who does his best but can’t overcome his miscasting), but it’s a frothy, superficial adaptation where most of Austen’s best lines are in the script but fail to land because

I don’t give a shit if you get sick. Just make sure to quarantine for 14 days after going to a public space to watch a movie that you can see at home so you don’t spread the virus to any other people who decided to make the responsible choice.

TV DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY. GOODNIGHT.

Don’t forget that the AV Club’s reach is global, even though we’re in the US. People in Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand are going back to theaters without COVID-19 spikes - because they are, and have been, steadily Flattening the Curve while the USofA behaves like a cross between Libertarian Anarchy and

Well Spanfeller had done it

Maybe a little too “inside baseball”

Oh yeah? Well the Jerk Squad called, they’re running out of you! Wait, that’s wrong.

What if I just want a heads up for if a movie is any good for when it eventually comes to VOD?  Also, the AVClub has readers outside of the U.S. who may be able to go to theaters in safer conditions.

i think your heart is in the right place here, but i don’t think empirically ‘reviewing a movie’ = ‘publicity’ (obviously in an overarching general sense, sure, but not in and of itself). being aware of movies that are coming out isn’t the same as saying ‘go do this’.

Let’s be honest, Disney doesn’t care about this movie and that’s ultimately why they probably just don’t want to do the work of providing review copies and really don’t care if nobody shows up to watch it.

Millie Bobby Brown is effortlessly charming in this. I had ZERO expectations before seeing the trailer, now I’m looking forward to it!

I suppose The New Mutants finally being released qualifies as one of the signs of the apocalypse, and hey, wouldn’t you know it, there’s an apocalypse happening!
