It’s like ... does anyone remember that movie ‘Tron’?
He’ll probably just imitate that AI that went super racist super fast and start calling his castmates various slurs.
Mel Gibson is still getting work. The entertainment industry has very lax standards.
They should have cast Larry Hemsworth.
The Matrix: a silent disco at an internet cafe.
It’s always “weaving” stories in these things. I want a new metaphor. “This writer spot-welds powerful narratives...”
I mean, you haven’t exactly refuted their point there. You haven’t created something when you ask AI to make it for you. You wouldn’t say “I cooked my own meal” if what you actually did was tell a chef what you wanted to eat and watched them make it for you, but at least if you did that you’d be paying a human for…
I love the interplay between Brandon Lee and Ernie Hudson. Eric lets the theatricality drop around Albrecht a little, and you can see how much of a strain it is for him to keep going.
“Victims. Aren’t we all?”
So is “impentinent” meant to be impertinent? Impenitent? Impotent? What’s he going for here?
I mean, the two reviews were written by different writers. We don’t know what this reviewer thought of ‘Lisa Frankenstein’, or Leigh Monson (who wrote the other) thought of ‘Drive Away Dolls’. Personally, I’d much rather each critic have their own ideas than have to adhere to some kind of site-wide editorial mandate.
Well, Joel wanted to get pancakes, and Ethan wanted to go to a place he could get a shot and a beer, steak maybe, not more fucking pancakes, and yeah, now it’s a whole thing.
I think I started reading these books at just the age I was realising how awful and creepy the classic “these races are all good, these races are all evil” fantasy playbook was. Doesn’t work for me when it’s elves and goblins, doesn’t work for me when it’s bunnies and weasels.
“Sabu, you slag!”
Since these live-action adaptations of animated shows almost never work, I say we go the other direction: a cartoon of a live action show. Let’s go with a well established brand - Law & Order: The Animated Series.
I just had the horrific idea of someone adapting ‘BoJack Horseman’ into live action, complete with nightmarish CGI animal people.
I really hate that mentality though. The idea that something needs to be updated just because it’s old and the technology has advanced is how you get the endlessly reskinned Star Wars films. A whole bunch of people - artists, effects technicians, model makers, painters - put in a huge amount of effort to make a film…
I am reminded of one of my favourite ‘Bob’s Burgers’ lines, where Mr Fischoeder is talking about his brother’s ice skating: “Anyone can make it look easy, but he makes it look hard.”
Hey, I love “The Fortuneteller”! It has one of my favourite Sokka moments.
