My marriage was ill fated (currently divorcing the monster) BUT I look back on the wedding with nothing but fondness. It was small, cheap (under 3 grand which is about a tenth of the average spend here) and I did almost everything myself but it didn’t *feel* cheap, it felt special and joyous because it was.

Have a look in charity shops for microwave cook-books...they always seem to have a bunch and theyare full of the most wonderful, innovative ideas! Also you can lean a tin of beans on the button of a kettle to boil rice-in-a-bag or potatoes. 

IVery only eaten kholrabi in the middle East. Peel it, slice it very finely, toss with shaven fresh fennel in good olive oil and salt. Salad heaven on a plate!
