Politicians want to cut a ribbon at the opening of a fancy schmancy new stadium. They want to rub elbows with big time ball players and team owners. They want to get wined and dined.

The Stadium scam depends on politicians who are desperate to get a professional team into town. So they look the other way when it comes to the costs.

Some city worker bee can’t be expected to just magically know which accountant to send the bill to. The HOA has a responsibility to ensure that the City is sending the bill to the right address.

Probably changed accountants. The new accountant wasn’t paying attention, didn’t know there was a property tax bill on the street. Never sent the City a change of address form for the bill to come to his/her office. The old accountant either kept getting the bills and throwing them in the trash (perhaps a bit miffed…

My HOA is pretty decent. They operate the neighborhood pools that the kids get to splash around in all summer.
