I row gears for 3-4 hours a day depending on traffic. For the few times I get miserable in traffic, the payoff is worth it.

I currently do 140-150 miles commute a day. To buy what I currently have, in a good school system where I work in VA, I’d have to pay millions to have a half hour commute, vs the 185K I paid in PA. 2.5 acres, 2 car garage, a barn, and one neighbor I talk to once a year.

What could have cleared this up was a rental agreement between you and your father.  But I’m sure he got it cleared up.

Not every state will let you register an older car with just a bill of sale. In PA, it’s nearly impossible for an average person. This process lets people legally register a car, so that they can then take it to the PA DMV and show ownership and let them get the vehicle registered in their own state. Or, just lets…

How did you get the VIN verification done?  Or was it even necessary to do the registration? 

So, I live in PA, and I just bought a car off of my buddy, who no longer lives in PA.  In PA to register a car, you need to go to a notary and have them notarize the transfer.  Since our schedules don’t line up very often, and we live about 3 hours apart, I’m probably going to register the car in Vermont with a bill…

You also see this with a lot of people who “travel for work”, and aren’t in the state 30 days at a clip.

It’s easy to use Vermont to re-brand or simply show ownership if you obtained a vehicle without a title and just a bill of sale. Or even in Pennsylvania, if I buy a car late at night, and there are no title shops open, I’m hosed, because they require a notary so you can do a title transfer “legally”. Or, if I want to…

I’ve been having the idea lately of finding a small 4wd with a blown up motor and swapping in a predator 650cc motor to let my son drive around the property.  If I could get tags on it, it would make an interesting vehicle to drive to Walmart on the backroads here, and I bet it would be faster than the Changli!
