Which also makes me think of the ‘S’ trim level. On the old Ford Ranger, S was the basic stripped model.

Yeah, I was “fighting” that battle a few years ago.
It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that the “L_____” phrase signifies leather trim on US automakers. Limited, Lariat, etc. Not sure how that carries over to MB but apparently it means something.
Oh man, wait until you hear what Starbucks calls its “small” coffee cup...
Don’t like any of the numbers here! 51 hp, 26 years, $7500.
I’m guessing the novelty of this thing would wear off in about 45 minutes or so.
How long until there are actual Raptor Broncos sitting on dealer lots for sale for less than $100,000?
It’s .6" over the Wagoneer, not .6" over the standard Expedition. It will probably be pretty capable, at least in terms of gargantuan SUV’s.
Is GM trying to tank EVs for another 20 years? Because this is what you do if you want to tank EVs for another 20 years. I’m already thinking that I have to wait for [theoretically] less flammable solid state batteries before I buy an EV. Now I’m thinking that I won’t even buy a Hybrid until I’m sure that it won’t…
With these expanded offerings, the new Ford Expedition SUV is poised to attract new customers who are more culturally diverse than the full-size SUV category has seen in past years, including more women seeking family adventures to balance the stress of their overprogrammed lives.
how do you Americans build trucks this big with such small payloads... behemoths like the F150 are rated to carry less! WHY????
Those are work trucks, these are lifestyle trucks - not meant to haul much more than a typical sedan would be doing but to look big and ugly while doing it.
I seriously considered the Evora when I bought my F Type. It’s awesome and the Emira is really just an improved Evora (despite the complaints of the hard core Lotus guys on the message boards.) Somehow though the Emira is slower. There’s a lot of disappointment that it’s coming in at 100k instead of 80k. Bad move…
Generally you assume that 10% to 15% of the trailer weight is on the tongue which counts towards the vehicles payload. You max out your load capacity at the lesser of payload or towing capacity. Payload is tongue weight plus ALL your other cargo including the driver.
Isn’t towing very specifically a different spec and not included in payload?
Yeah, this was a fairly bad take. The off-road trims have a payload penalty, calling it the “top trim” and then making conclusions is bad.
I would guess it has everything to do with capacity and nothing more. if the hybrid has a lot of torque at very low rpms then maybe it needed to be uprated to meet a certain internal spec. Its all kinda silly. Whats interesting is that it looks like they moved away from the last “super big tough” part from the old…
I really like the Emira, but at $100k+ the elephant in the room is the C8 Z06 (or Cayman/Boxster with the 4.0). The Emira may be Lotus’ send off to ICE vehicles, but there really isn’t anything special about either engine option being offered (V6 or I4). That’s not to say they aren’t good engines, but both are carry…
I like Lotus as much as the next guy, but 100k?
I assume “Lotus-honed” is so they don’t have to admit the engine is mostly the same one in my wife’s minivan.
