Shouldnt that be covered by warranty? I believe every genesis has a 10yr/100k powertrain warranty. That seems like excessive consumption to me

5th: Telsa is missing a deadline? Surely you can’t be serious.
1st - I very much doubt this will happen. Once they get a taste of the sweet, sweet money being thrown at their new SUVs, why on earth would they dial that back? Or is this some Jesuitical trickery, “all new vehicles will be electric from 2025"... But we’ll continue to *update* our SUVs wink wink ;-) (and we’ll have…
Gas tax is one of the most reliable ways to get tax money from the poor. In a country where 40+ percent pay effectively no income tax it wont take long for the government to figure it out and get their money.
A few years back, i was in the airport outlet mall, and they had a Genesis dealership located in the mall of all places. I will admit i was in the “It’s a what” “what even is this car company” camp
In a weird way, Genesis is actually perfectly positioned to become a full-EV company, because so few people who know the brand. I remember my entire Genesis ownership experience was, “It’s a what?”
So much crazy talk here. Coke is a crisp, flavorful, refreshing delight with a wonderful citrus zing. Pepsi is carbonated tree sap consumed exclusively by bad people.
I’m giving you a star only because Pepsi is hated by everyone across the world except New England, and even they are coming around.
Oh, god no.
To be fair, none of these exist yet and in all likelihood there will be plenty of other options by the time they do. One of the coolest things about EVs to me is that the automakers don’t seem to have as much of an issue buying someone else’s tech and popping it in their platform, so the more ubiquitous good motors…
I think Lotus is luxe performance (their Porsche). Polestar their Audi, Volvo their VW. I wonder whether they’ll sell the domestic ones in Europe/US.
That’s a good point - the design experience from Volvo is pretty handy. They did also get design experience from Lotus as well as the brand - Lotus is well-known for their engineering consulting to other car manufacturers, and now Geely have that in-house.
It makes sense because nobody wants Chinese brands outside (or even arguably inside) China. Chinese domestic brands have a (not entirely undeserved) reputation for being cheap and crappy internationally, and foreign brands are aspirational in China. With Volvo and Lotus they’re short-cutting the process and buying…
batteries of capacities up to 120 kWh
I say this is a lifelong Lotus fan (previous Elise owner)...what will make Lotus stand out? At least if you stuck an EV powertrain in a Morgan or Caterham, they look...well, different. When Chevrolet or Ford has an EV SUV that you can do 0-60 in under 4 seconds for 40kish, where does that leave any of these other…
Step four (me): Go straight to the comments and shit all over Jalopnik for not getting rid of this slideshow stupidity.
How in the hell do you fix it if it breaks? Seems like it would be a jack stand queen while you hunt for parts internationally. With those low total build numbers and very limited market, I bet you are up shit creek without a paddle for a lot of them unless you just happen to know a custom fabricator that owes you a…
