holy shit are they uncomfortable on roads

This is a pretty classic case of Bureaucratic Double-Down. What’s happening now is they realized they fucked up, but are too prideful to backtrack. It’s easier for the government entity to go “Well it’s because we say so”. The only remedy right now is for some Delica enthusiast to sue the state, and then the facts

Trash ergonomics and design decisions are valid criticisms of a vehicle, regardless of how common the design element is.

I’m not sure how you’ve made it this far in life without the concept being explained to you, but sometimes people make statements they know to be specious in furtherance of a joke.

Neutral: The Toyota Prius is a fantastic transportation appliance. Great mileage, utterly reliable (my wife’s aunt ran hers to over 250,000 miles), lots of practical room, and on and on. I can’t fault anyone who chooses to own and drive one for very sensible reasons.

It’s become a car blog written primarily by non-car people.

I’ve come to expect that The Morning Shift generally has a negative editorial tone to it anymore, but at least I’ll get some sort of tidbit that I didn’t know about. But today...I mean just look at the overall tone on every subject. As I kept reading I thought to myself how “Neutral” usually has some sort of topic

Toyota is right. Just because the suburban affluent are cheerleading EVs doesn’t mean they’re feasible for the vast majority of the population. I’d like to get an EV at some point, but there are so many considerations on top of just buying the car. Those worries range from how to charge the car to considering the risk

A superior technology that was not chosen by the pornography industry?

I’ll take “things a bot could post once a week, and nobody would realize it was a bot” for 100, Alex.

The right answer is to give your kid whatever you’ve been driving, and get yourself something new. My 5-year-old already knows he’ll be driving a 21-year-old Tacoma one day and Dad will be driving something fast again. ;-)

ND, there are just too many red flags here.

Just poured in some gas and fired it up huh?

This is the automotive equivalent of a mystery box or loot box that all the kids are fond of these days..... Basically a roll of the dice. Yeah, it could just take some small service items and run like a dream, or it could be a total mess and require double what you paid for it to get it running. Are you feeling

Thirty year old Merc? $5000 is just the down payment on the infinite ongoing cost. Buying this thing would be like taking out another mortgage.

Exactly. I’m not paying for the privilege of paying more next month. My internet company keeps trying that shit on me. “We’ll give you faster speeds for less money!” “Yeah? How long is the contract?” “One year!” “After that what does the price go up to?” “Oh, you don’t need to worry about that!”

The real meat of the story and source of anger isn’t them quibbling over using the word “Cruise”. It’s what you slipped in right at the end - that this shit is gonna be a goddamn microtransaction.
I’m gonna go on the record for this - every single auto manufacturer can take their microtransactions and over-the-air

Ok, bear with me. I’m going to recommend a boring car. But for a reason.

I suppose growing a few inches and getting some goggles would fix the issue.

I browse r/teslamotors and r/cybertruck often — they really aren’t anymore. FSD is considered a waste of money. Most users recommend using the money upgrading to a higher trim or just saving it. SOME people buy into the robotaxi garbage, but they seem to have gone into hiding as of late.

So that’s good news, I guess.
