The interesting thing about this is that Tesla’s gung-ho attitude WILL cause them to “win” the self-driving race.

IMO, Musk has commingled his ventures in pretty questionable ways. This was probably one of the most egregious.

Unlikely. Aerodynamics and safety standards/crash tests make some sort of front hood area necessary. Even vehicles like the ID.Buzz and the Canoo maintain a large area in front of the driver.

Knowing that my expenses would go down by say, $5 or 600 a month

Same. I thought I’d hate it without a manual, but the paddles are engaging. its so good.

It does. Consumer confidence is a key metric in the economy.

That means we need to make it affordable to actually live in dense areas where jobs are and where public transit actually works.

Taking out a loan to buy a depreciating asset isn’t optimal

The new Supra. It gets a lot of hate for being a shared platform with BMW, and the timing and price point drew comparisons to the C8 Corvette. It’s an excellent car, and anyone that says otherwise hasn’t driven one. The 4 cylinder is still quicker than most people will use and is far nicer of a car than anything else

What’s the floor to ceiling height of each deck? School bus interiors are already short enough that some people raise the roofs. If this would require crouching down as you move around, it’d make for a terrible RV/tiny home.

That’s great if you want to be crouched down anywhere you go in your RV.

Ha, very similar indeed. I also had an e36 m3 and an e46 325ci (coupe, not vert). Those came before my m5 though.

How many of those were 20+ year old, poorly maintained shitboxes vs new, $130,000 cars? Not only that, EV fires are substantially more dangerous than gasoline fires.

It’s the new fire response mode. It was trying to drive itself to the fire station.

Hence my username.

I picked my 03 up for $7500 with 46k miles. There are plenty of $5500 MR2s on the market in decent condition.

Yes, I just bought one.

MR2 Spyder. It’s a unique, lightweight, fun car. Mid-engine, RWD. Parts are available. You can do a 2zz or k-swap.

A lot of the frustration with the E39 came from the aggressive traction control.

My e39 M5 wasn’t that fast by todays standards, but was fast enough that the power became frustrating. I’m a firm believer that to really get a thrill out of a sports car you need to be pushing it a bit, and pushing the M5 meant I was in go-to-jail territory pretty quickly, which also meant I didn’t get to push it
