There is something incredible about modest amounts of power in very lightweight, small cars. They may not be the fastest thing on the road, but they most certainly are the most fun.

So we should keep pointless jobs around that make stuff more expensive for everyone else around, just to keep people employed?

Such is life. I picked up an Mr2 a few weeks ago. It’s never too late.

12 cars over 78 person years isn’t too bad. I’m 13 (two of which have been my wife’s) cars in at 20 person years (3 years of marriage, 17 years of driving). It’s hard to put numbers on some cars. My wife’s car was given to her by her dad, who got it slightly used 15 or so years ago. My Alfa Romeo was a 2 cars for the

Sure, eventually that’s true. It’s not happening everywhere cars are kept overnight within the next 8.5 years though, IMO.

Of course there is potential for that, and some communities will hop on the train, but a large portion of the country isn’t going to. Apartment owners aren’t going to pay for chargers if they don’t need to. Streetlights are rarely replaced. There is a ton of infrastructure improvements needed before ICE vehicles stop

I have zero desire to remove the second row of seats. That’s what I have a truck for.

Common charging standard is just the tip of the iceberg. The insurmountable issue, IMO, is getting charging capability in every place people park their cars overnight. I have a garage, many people don’t. My garage has a 240v outlet, most don’t. No one can convince me that all overnight parking (individual garages,

There are other companies that build batteries though, and Tesla batteries aren’t anything special. As more factories come online, battery prices will continue to be pushed down until the price = raw materials + processing cost + profit margin, where profit margin will have to compete with every other battery

Yeah, I bought a few cars that needed substantial work, did the work, and sold them for more than I bought them for. If I took parts into account, they’d be losses too.

Everyone else is chasing the 2% of the US market share while Toyota will continue to dominate. Toyota and Honda will slip into EVs when they are economically viable, and when they are actually what people want to buy. EVs aren’t that complex. They won’t be behind.

Because I don’t recall all the purchase and sale prices of all the cars I’ve owned.

No, not at all with their current quality.

Is it just me, or does it actually feel like the normals (not-car people) might be starting to turn on Musk and Tesla?

Man, that dude is looney. It’s a pretty good reminder of how crazy Tesla-Stans are.

This exercise is pretty dumb. I’ve had 13 cars, so my total would be in excess of $100,000, but I haven’t really spent $100,000 on cars as I’ve gotten close to what I paid for most of the cars when I sold them. A better exercise would be to calculate the total we’ve lost between buying and selling all of our cars.

Need is a strong word. Sometimes the want/desire is enough.

Thanks! After hanging out with him everyday for 2.5 years, 110lbs has become the new normal size for dogs. He eats about 25-30lbs of kibble (1 bag) a month, which I don’t think is too bad, usually about $50 a month. Where they really get you is medication and supplements (heartworm, flee, tick, joint , dental/greenies)

Hot as in being fantastic at doing everything I could possibly want a minivan to do.

Update: but perhaps not the Sienna. Pacifica Plug-in hybrid perhaps?
